FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : If the 110V outlet at the boom tip does not have GFCI protection, the lack of circuit protection increases the risk of severe electric shock or thermal events in moist environments. Address : 2106 S Riverside Rd Saint Joseph Missouri 64507-2535 Country : United States Chronology : In December 2022, Altec initiated a review of compliance with a revision to an internal standard and discovered engineering might not have revised some unit design specifications to ensure they complied with the new requirements. On March 28, 2023, an investigation was initiated to determine if units in the field could have a 110V outlet at the boom tip without an inline GFCI mounted in the body compartment. On June 16, 2023, after reviewing the data collected in the investigation, Altec determined that a defect could exist on units in the field, and a campaign should be completed to inspect and update the affected units. There were no warranty claims or field reports identified. There have been no accidents, injuries, or deaths related to this issue. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : The remedy will include an inspection for a GFCI outlet located in the body compartment that houses the inverter between the inverter and the boomtip outlet. If there is no GFCI outlet inline, a GFCI outlet will be added. The recall remedy will be completed free of charge when presented for repair. The Altec Warranty Policy covers the recall remedy, including cases requiring reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedy adds a GFCI outlet for the boomtip outlet circuit in a body compartment. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : On December 19, 2022, production documents were updated to specify that a GFCI be installed in the body compartment for the boomtip outlet circuit.
