Wheel Guards may Melt from Brake Heat
If the insulators melt, it can cause the wheel to loosen and detach from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Summary
Simard Suspensions Inc (Simard) is recalling certain front suspensions. These axles have plastic insulators installed between the wheel hub and the wheel or the brake drum and the wheel to prevent corrosion between the two components. Heat generated by the brakes may melt these insulators.
Remedy
Simard will notify owners, and dealers will remove or replace the insulators, free of charge. Owners may contact Simard customer service at 1-877-898-8317 or email: [email protected].

Dear customer,
Your vehicle (1NPTX4E) is part of a recall by Transport Canada # 2018308. A plastic insulation, also called wheel guard, built by FleetSpec, has been installed between the wheel and the brake drum, or between the wheel hub and the wheel to prevent corrosion between both components of your truck. This piece has been installed on front twin steer axle or front tridem steer axle vehicles modified by Simard Suspensions between March 1st and November 30th 2017.
These FleetSpec wheel guards may melt because of the heat generated by the brakes. In this case, a wheel could loosen and fall from the vehicle. Simard Suspensions requires that you remove these Fleetspec wheel guards. If you wish to replace them, we recommend the Accuride wheel guards, part number 5903. Please contact Simard Suspensions to confirm the number of wheel guards needed. They will be shipped free of charge.
Simard Suspensions also offers a compensation of 150$ to take off or replace wheel guards. We invite you to send a bill to Simard Suspensions, 1064 Boulevard Monseigneur de Laval, BaieSt-Paul, Québec, G3Z 2W9 showing VIN and the following information:

Dear customer,
Some of the trucks sold to your clients are part of a recall because of defective wheel guards. Your customer have received an explanation letter as shown below. Only the vehicles modified by Simard Suspensions between March 1st 2017 and November 30th 2017 are part of this recall.
As you can read in the message below, Simard Suspensions offer your customers the possibility to remove or replace the wheel guards. In both cases, a compensation of 150$ will be offered after providing an appropriate invoice. For a replacement, the parts will be provided free of charge. The targeted VIN list is available via this link:

Clients are free to use the supplier of their choice to perform the modification, or even complete it themselves.
