This is the date the correction was made in production. Production Dates : FEB 09, 2023 – JUN 20, 2023 VIN Range 1 : Begin : 1B9GUWH26RJ307182 End : 1B9GUWA2XPJ311355 Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : On certain model year 2023 & 2024 Interstate 24 & Interstate 19 motor homes an improper 200-Amp fuse was installed on the main cable feed that supplies power from the battery to the fuse panel via a buss bar, instead of the correct 50-Amp fuse. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : In the event of of a short circuit, the main cable feed could overheat before the fuse would break the circuit which would increase the risk of a fire, or property damage. Description of the Cause : Ther person who normally assembles the breaker/fuse assembly was out, and the assemblies were not being assembled according to the print. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : Burning smell Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-454 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Involved Components : Component Name 1 : Fuse Component Description : 200-amp Fuse Component Part Number : 512600-200 Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : NR Address : NR NR Country : NR Chronology : 6/20/2023 – Airstream discovered the fuse issue during an audit & began the investigation. 6/28/23 – The Airstream’s Safety Committee met and decided to submit a 573 to NHTSA. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Dealers will be instructed to complete an inspection. If a 50-amp fuse is present on the fuse block, no further action is needed. If a 200-amp fuse is present the technician will need to replace the 200-amp fuse with the 50- amp fuse. Customers will be allowed reimbursement following the general reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The incorrect 200-amp fuse is blue, and the correct 50-amp fuse is red. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Production began manufacturing with the correct fuse on 6/22/2023.
