Summary
Maxzone Auto Parts Corporation (Maxzone) is recalling certain DEPO rear turn signal lights with part numbers 312-1339L-UC and 312-1339R-UC. The rear turn signal may be smaller than the minimum requirement and be less noticeable to other drivers. As such, these turn signals fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Devices.”
Remedy
Maxzone will replace the rear turn signals, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 2023. Owners may contact Maxzone customer service at 1-909-822-3288.

Chronology :
The nonconforming lamps could not meet applicable FMVSS 108 requirement when it comes to the effective projected luminous area for LED rear turn signal function.
We decided to stop the production and sale of the parts for the time being before resolving the problem.

Equipment FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : The lamp could not meet FMVSS 108 requirement related to the effective projected luminous lens area and potential danger may happen during driving when a driver activated LED rear turn signal lamp to indicate an intention to turn or change direction(lane). Description of the Cause : The design deviation resulted from incorrect spacing(area) measurement for the effective projected luminous lens area by R&D engineers and consequently caused LED rear turn signal lamp to not activate broadly enough when a customers installed the lamp on a vehicle. The design deviation happened because R&D engineer is insufficient cognition and misunderstand the measured values for the effective projected luminous lens area. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : We will make sure this problem is resolved before selling the lamp again. If the test result is failed that means the lamp can’t be produced. Without the proper testing equipment, consumer can’t identify any warning which can precede or occur. Customers will be reimbursed for the cost associated with performing this recall. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Those lamps stamped lot number 20211105 or 20221021 for 312-1339L/ R-UC type are defective and we will recall, we have decided to stop the production of the noncompliance lamps and there are no remedy lamps. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : We have decided to stop the production of the noncompliance lamps, since the nonconforming lamps could not meet applicable FMVSS 108 requirements when it comes to the effective projected luminous area for LED rear turn signal function. The product is discontinued. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : We regret to inform customer that a recall is being initiated today (6/7/2023) for item # 312-1139-UC. We will be notifying all customers who have purchased this product and providing compensation in the form of one OE part replacement and labor fees.
