Summary
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2023 Impression fifth wheels vehicles. The exterior griddle may be stowed while still connected to LP gas line.
Remedy
Dealers will install a 90-degree fitting on the griddle, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 27, 2023. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-327-2707. Forest River’s number for this recall is 83-1658.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also sent in accordance with the requirements of the United States’ National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest River has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2023 Impression Fifth Wheel Recreational Vehicles. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.
WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?
The exterior griddle may be stowed while still connected to LP Gas.
EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.
The exterior griddle may be stowed while in use and increase the risk of fire.
WHAT IS FOREST RIVER AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?
Forest River is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest River completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. A 90-degree fitting will be installed on the griddle to ensure the griddle cannot be stowed while the LP gas line is attached. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy.

HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?
The estimated time of repair is .50 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.

Turn off LP Gas at LPG Tank(s). Disconnect the vehicles’ battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power. Block any tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.
STEP 1: REMOVE EXTERIOR GRIDDLE FROM VEHICLES EXTERIOR KITCHEN;
STEP 2: REMOVE BRASS FITTING DEPICTED IN FIGURE 1:
STEP 3: REMOVE ANY RESIDUAL SEALANT (PASTE OR TAPE) FROM GRIDDLE PIPE FITTING;
STEP 4: APPLY NEW SEALANT RATED FOR LP GAS TO THE GRIDDLES PIPE FITTING;
STEP 5: THREAD ON THE 90° BRASS FITTING ASSEMBLY AT AN ANGLE AS DEPICTED IN FIGURE 2;
STEP 6: PLACE GRIDDLE BACK ONTO THE VEHCILES EXTERIOR GRIDDLE TRAY;
STEP 7: CONNECT THE LP GAS HOSE TO THE NEWLY INSTALLED GRIDDLE, THEN CONNECT TO THE QUICK DISCONNECT;
STEP 7: PUSH THE GRIDDLE TRAY “IN” TO ENSURE THE CONNECTED LP GAS LINE DOES NOT ALLOW THE GRIDDLE TO BE STOWED;
STEP 8: TURN ON LP GAS AT THE LP TANKS;
STEP 9: PERFORM 3 MINUTE LP GAS DROP TEST WITH MONOMETER TO ENSURE THERE ARE NOT ANY LEAKS;
A. TESTING FOR A LEAK IN THE SCOPE OF THESE REMEDY INSTRUCTIONS ARE LIMITED TO THE NEW CONNECTION MADE WITH THE PARTS FROM FOREST RIVER;
B. ANY LEAK FOUND OUTSIDE OF THE SCOPE OF THIS RECALL SHALL BE CLAIMED SEPERATELY USING THE APPROPRIATE REPAIR CODE;

On July 13, 2023, during a routine Corporate Standards Audit, the concern was identified in the manufacturing plant. Forest River’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) the same day. OCC opened a research item.
On July 14, 2023, OCC went to the manufacturing plant to research the concern.
On July 17, 2023, OCC identified that vehicles in commerce that may be affected.
On July 21, 2023, Forest River’s Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall.
