Summary
Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Aerial Devices (AT, TA, L44, L45, LR8, AA, AM, AN) and D series Digger Derricks (DH, DL, DM, DT). The power inverter that converts electrical DC power to AC power may have been installed without a circuit breaker to protect the AC output circuit.
Remedy
Altec will install a 20-amp circuit breaker in the AC circuit, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 22, 2023. Owners may contact Altec’s customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec’s number for this recall is CSN 3103.

Chronology :
During the design of a customer order, an engineer identified no circuit protection on a previous inverter circuit design using a particular inverter model. On July 13, 2023, a potential field action was opened to determine if there were units in the field that could have an unprotected AC circuit and the field population of those units. On July 21, 2023, Altec determined that a potential defect was present in a certain field population and that a field campaign was required. There have been no warranty claims or other field reports identified.
There have been no accidents, injuries, or deaths related to this issue.
