Winnebago
Industries, Inc. (Winnebago
) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Revel motorhomes. The cables near the lithium batteries may contact the battery hold-down brackets, which can damage the cables and cause a short circuit.
Remedy
The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 28, 2023. Owners may contact Winnebago
customer service at 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885. Winnebago

Chronology :
On or about 07/16/2023 NHTSA ODI provided Winnebago
with a customer complaint regarding a worn electrical cable. An investigation was subsequently initiated based on this complaint.
On or about 08/16/2023 Winnebago
was made aware of a field incident where an electrical cable had been worn or chaffed and created a short circuit which resulted in a fire which was contained by the customer. An investigation of the incident found worn cables in contact with the battery hold down bracket as the cause of the short circuit. A further review of production routing and all available data was conducted.
On 9/28/2023 the Product Safety Committee reviewed all available information and determined the issue presented an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety and a recall was initiated.

is aware of 5 incidents potentially related to this condition, the first wear incident occurred on or about January 2022.
Winnebago
is not aware of any injuries as a result of this issue.
