Summary
SynTec Seating Solutions, LLC (SynTec) is recalling certain S3B 45″ Restraint School Bus Seats. The seat’s foot may pull through the bolted joint at the bus floor. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”
Remedy
SynTec has notified the bus manufacturer that purchased the seats, and dealers for those manufacturers will install a washer between the rear mounting foot and the bus floor, free of charge. The recall began on August 7, 2018. Owners may contact SynTec customer service at 1-336-862-7509. SynTec’s number for this recall is RES101.

Subject: S3B School Bus Seat: 45” Restraint Seats
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. SynTec Seating Solutions, LLC has decided that a noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard FMVSS 210: Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages in certain Thomas Built Buses equipped with S3B 45” Restraint school bus seats. Failure of the floor mount foot was determined to be the root cause of the noncompliance. This noncompliance could result in the floor mount foot pulling through the bolted joint in the event of a severe collision. A washer will be installed between the rear mounting foot and bus floor bolt heads to increase surface contact of the bolted joint, preventing pull through.
To arrange for repairs you should contact your local Thomas Bus dealer immediately or SynTec Seating Solutions, LLC. SynTec will remedy the noncompliance without charge. The repair should take approximately 30 minutes depending on your vehicle and will be performed at no charge to you. Parts are currently available for the repair.
If you do not own the vehicle(s) that corresponds to the identification number(s) which appears on the Recall Notification, please return the notification to SynTec Seating, LLC 200 Swathmore Ave High Point, NC 27263, Att. Warranty Department with any information you can furnish that will assist us in locating the present owner. If you have leased this vehicle, Federal law requires that you forward this notice to the lessee within 10 days.

S3B 45” Restraint Seats manufactured February 5, 2018 through June 10, 2018
General Information
SynTec Seating Solutions, LLC has decided that a non-compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard FMVSS 210: Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages exists in certain school buses equipped with S3B 45” restraint school bus seats. The non-compliance was initially identified based on routine testing conducted at SynTec’s manufacturing facility in High Point, North Carolina. The S3B 45” restraint seat failed to meet the testing requirements, allowing the floor mount foot to pull through the bolted joint above 4500 lbs. (5000 lbs. minimum requirement). The installation of a washer between the rear mounting foot and bus floor bolt heads increases surface contact of the bolted joint, preventing pull through.
There are approximately 37 vehicles and 235 seats involved in this campaign. The population is limited to 1 Dealer in 1 State with fewer than 10 total customers.
Additional Repairs
Dealers must complete all outstanding Recall campaigns prior to the sale or delivery of a vehicle. A Dealer will be liable for any progressive damage that results from failure to complete campaigns before sale or delivery of a vehicle.
Owners may be liable for any progressive damage that results from failure to complete campaigns within a reasonable time after receiving notification.
