FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : The exterior griddle may be stowed while in use, increasing the risk of a fire. Description of the Cause : The model of griddle installed in the applicable products had a plumbing configuration that allowed the closure of the griddle while connected to the LP gas. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-665 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : None Involved Components : Component Name 1 : Griddle Component Description : Griddle Component Part Number : C09-0003 Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : NR Address : NR NR Country : NR Chronology : 8/1/2023 REV RV performed a random product sampling audit. 8/4 All audit inspection items were sent to the Product Development teams for further review. 8/14 Product development and Engineering reviewed the use and design intent of a griddle option feature. 8/15 A stop ship was implemented and Engineering started an investigation. 8/16 Called the griddle manufacturer with a request for them to review the installation regarding the LP line routing and shut off. 8/18 Further consultation with the supplier. They began an investigation and testing was started. 8/21 Field research and investigation was conducted. 9/5 After holiday, teams collaborated and scheduled final validation. 9/8 Meet to discuss field research to determine scope. 9/11 Reviewed warranty data summary 9/18 Manufacturing testing concluded 9/22 Field analysis concluded 9/25 Summary sent to committee for consideration. 9/29 Committee meeting concluded with action plan to proceed with Part 573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-665 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : With the griddle in the stowed position the griddle can inadvertently be left on with the LP gas connected. REV will notify owners and dealers of the campaign. The repairs will be made free of charge. REV will reimburse owners that have previously paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall upon presentation of a paid receipt. Owners will still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : A 90-degree fitting and a quick disconnect will be included in the parts kit. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Vehicles affected at the production plant were remedied with an elbow fitting and quick disconnect that will not allow for the closure of the exterior griddle while connected to LP gas. All units at the plant were remedied prior to entering into commerce.
