Descriptive Information : The recalled population was determined by the traceability of powertrains built with pipes extruded on the Relevant Production Date (as defined in the Chronology).

Description of Defect :
Description of the Defect : A defective pipe within the low pressure fuel pipe assembly can potentially become disconnected, particularly during the engine start process.
FMVSS 1 : NR
FMVSS 2 : NR
Description of the Safety Risk : In the event the pipe becomes disconnected, there could be a fuel leak.
Because the connections are situated close to engine components which have a high operating temperature, such a leak could increase the risk of a thermal event.
Description of the Cause : A defect in the manufacture of the low pressure fuel pipe assembly may allow the pipe to detach from a connection and leak fuel. McLaren’s analysis indicates that the defect is limited to a particular batch of pipes. Please see the chronology for more information.
Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur :
In the event of a fuel leak, it may be possible to smell fuel odour in the proximity of the vehicle or observe signs of fuel leaking onto the ground.
In addition, if the low pressure fuel pipe detaches while the vehicle is running, there will be an ‘engine system fault’ warning due to engine fuel starvation,

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : McLaren will replace the low-pressure fuel pipe assembly in the affected vehicles with a new low-pressure fuel pipe assembly.
The remedy will be carried out at no charge to the customer. Since all of the affected vehicles are covered by warranty, there is no need for a reimbursement program.
How Remedy Component Differs
from Recalled Component :
The defective pipes (part number 16FC437CP) will be replaced with non-defective pipes.
McLaren is working with the pipe manufacturer to put in place controls with greater sample testing.
