Prevost
Car (US) Inc. (Prevost
) is recalling certain 2014-2018 H3-41, 2013-2024 H3-45, 2012-2024 X3-45, and 2017-2023 X3-45 Commuter vehicles. The red beacon lighting on the Threshold Warning System (TWS) may not be bright enough. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, “Platform Lift Systems.”
Remedy
Prevost
will replace the red beacons, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 9, 2024. Owners may contact Prevost
customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost

investigation was opened to determine if the issue is potentially safety related or a non-compliance. Prevost
considered the information included in Ricon’s Recall 23E091 when evaluating the existence of a potential non-compliance.
2023-12-06 Preliminary internal testing was performed with a beacon integrated in a Prevost
vehicle. The minimum light intensity of 20 candela specified in FMVSS 403 was not achieved during this preliminary internal testing.
2023-12-14 Case was presented on Volvo
Product Safety Evaluation Committee (PSEC) to evaluate if there is a potential non-compliance issue. Decision made to raise the potential non-compliance issue to Volvo
Product Safety Committee (PSC) for review and determination.
2023-12-19 Case was presented to Volvo
Product Safety Committee (PSC). It was concluded that there was a non-compliance and that a recall is needed.
2023-12-19 Delivery stop was issued to stop the delivery of vehicles until corrective actions are implemented in production.
2023-12-21 Internal campaign was launched to solve the issue on all vehicles in production before being delivered.
2023-12-22 Defect Information Report submitted to authorities.

Description of the Safety Risk : Per Ricon’s Recall 23E091, “a warning beacon light that displays below the
minimum level of candelas may be less visible to users located near an out of position platform lift and may increase the risk of injury”.
Description of the Cause : The issue results from a supplier FMVSS non-compliance issue. Per Ricon’s Recall 23E091: “Threshold Warning System Kit PN RI32885 contains two red beacons. Each beacon is configured with two incandescent bulbs. Ricon has determined that the wattage rating of the bulbs is not sufficient to produce the minimum light intensity of 20 candela specified in FMVSS 403, section S6.1.4.” Identification of Any Warning

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Prevost
will replace the red beacon included in the “Threshold Warning
System” on all potentially affected vehicles as per the supplier’s instructions. Letters will be sent to customers to inform them on how to proceed. Prevost
will execute this correction free of charge (parts and labor) for the customers. In case a customer has already inspected and corrected this defect before the safety recall has been launched, this customer will be reimbursed according to Prevost
reimbursement plan. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The issue concerns a component that does not comply with FMVSS 403, and not a defective component. After the remedy, the beacon supplied and installed per Ricon’s instructions will comply with the requirements of FMVSS 403.
The recall condition was corrected in production on December 21, 2023, when an internal campaign was launched. All vehicles are corrected prior to delivery. Recall Schedule :
