Summary
Forest River
, Inc. (Forest River
) is recalling certain 2020 Cherokee travel trailers. The draw bar locking mechanism may break, which can cause the front end of the trailer to contact the road.
Remedy
The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 14, 2024. Owners may contact Forest River
customer service at 1-574-825-4995. Forest River
’s number for this recall is 95-1705.

Chronology :
On November 9, 2023, Forest Rivers Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) received a complaint from an owner of the drawbar locking mechanism that failed through the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office.
On November 10, 2023, OCC opened a research item and began reviewing claims.
On November 16, 2023, OCC contacted the chassis manufacture to setup a meeting.
On November 21, 2023, OCC and chassis manufacturer had a meeting to discuss the concern. The same day,
OCC provided the chassis manufacturer data, and is awaiting the chassis manufacturer to review their claims.
On December 20, 2023, OCC received a VOQ #11561005 from NHTSA ODI for the same vehicle.
On January 2, 2024, OCC inquired with the chassis manufacturer as to why we haven’t heard any status update of their research dating to when OCC provided the chassis manufacturer with data on November 21, 2023. The same day, OCC received a response from the chassis manufacturer indicating that “We have reviewed all prints and verified no changes were made prior to or during the years discussed regarding drawbar. We are not seeing anything which would indicate the occurrences discussed were due to an issue with the specs or manufacturing.”
On January 5, 2024, Forest Rivers Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall.
