Summary
SVI Trucks is recalling certain Command Light Towers & Traffic Flowboards that contain Weldon 8X16 Input-Output nodes. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the node may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.
Remedy
SVI Trucks will work with Weldon to update the firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 16, 2024. Owners may contact SVI Trucks customer service at 1-888-784-1112.

NHTSA RECALL No. 24E-003
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Command Light has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain Command Light Towers & Traffic Flowboards that contain Weldon’s V-MUX 8 x 16 I/0 Nodes, Weldon Part Number 6030-2000-00 produced between March 10, 2020 and June 14, 2023. Versions 1.00 thru 1.02 are affected. This node was used in command light, light towers and traffic flow boards utilizing control through the Weldon V-MUX screen, no other control or products are affected.
In the affected products, short circuit protection may not function properly. In the case of a short circuit in the wiring or the connected load, overheating of the wiring or the load may occur, and depending on how the product is installed in the vehicle, this could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.
You are receiving this notice because Command Light records indicate you have received shipments of affected units. Vehicles equipped with these devices need a firmware update.
Devices on the shelf at your facility can be remedied by updating the firmware to the latest version available
on Akron website https://www.akronbrass.com/vehicle-electronics/v-mux-8×16node#product_tabs_download and reload the design files (if any).
Completed vehicles that remain at your facility may have all the affected 8 x 16 installed nodes updated without accessing the individual nodes or design files using a Weldon service app and the downloader kit. This update is estimated to take 5 minutes.
Command Light will provide a free remedy to units installed on vehicles through the Command light and Weldon service network.

Descriptive Information : Command Light was notified by Weldon that NHTSA recall 23E-084 was issued for Nodes used in some of our command light products. Weldon identified 10 Nodes were purchased by command light that were in the affected population and provided a list of serial numbers of the nodes purchased. We cross referenced the node serial numbers and identified Four (4) were still in stock and six have been installed and shipped to customers. Only products that are affected are controlled using the Weldon Vista display.
