CERTAIN 2024 – SHASTA OASIS TRAVEL TRAILERS
Forest River has decided that a safety defect exists in certain 2024 Shasta Oasis Travel Trailer Recreational Vehicles. Forest River is recalling the defect model(s) to ensure the safety of our future retail consumers and your dealership. Forest River is issuing a Stop Sale Notice effective immediately.
Please access your Home Page on Dealer Connect to verify if your Dealership has units in stock that are subject to this recall. Enter the Service Campaign number referenced above in the “Campaign Search” field, click on the “Campaign ID Number”. Next, select “MY VINS”. Not all Dealers have units in stock that are affected by this recall.

The side marker lamps do not meet F/CMVSS 108 Requirements.
EVALUATION OF RISK:
An approaching vehicle from the rear or side may not get the proper indication if conspicuity from the suspect vehicle. Additionally, the side marker lamps do not meet F/CMVSS 108.

Companies who sell new non-complying vehicles may be in violation of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Substantial penalties apply to violations of this law. This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Act and in accordance with the requirements of the United States’ National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest River has decided that a noncompliance, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2024 Shasta Oasis Travel Trailer recreational vehicles and fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108 – Lamps, reflective devices, and assoc. Equipment Additionally, this non-compliance fails to meet the requirements of Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (CMVSS) number 108 – Lamps, reflective devices, and assoc. Equipment. This is to inform you that your vehicle may be non-compliant with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations and that the non-compliance could affect the safety of a person.

If your dealership has already performed the remedy to 2024 Shasta Oasis Travel Trailer, your dealership is entitled to the reimbursement as stated above by filing a claim using the indicated repair code(s). If the remedy needs to be performed on an out of warranty 2024 Shasta Oasis Travel Trailer in which the VIN falls under as stated in the identified VIN listing, your dealership is entitled to the reimbursement as stated above by filing a claim using the indicated repair code(s).
Notice:
In no manner shall a Forest River Product Owner or Coachmen Product Owner be charged any fee(s) for scheduling, conduction or completion of the recall. On January 11, 2024, Forest River’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) was notified that during a routine Corporate Standards Audit, earlier in the day, of the manufacturing plant, the red and amber clearance lamps were discovered to not have the listing of “A” or “A2” which indicate “Reflector” or “Wide Angle Reflector inscribed onto the lens. OCC opened a research item. The vendor was contacted and asked to if the lamps meet the reflectivity requirements. On January 15, 2024, OCC contact the supplier via phone and email to check on the status of the research originally communicated with on January 11, 2024. The vendor indicated they were working actively work on the research. On January 16, 2024, OCC was notified by the supplier via phone that they would be have testing completed to ensure the lamps meet FMVSS 108, and are as such for Clearance Lamp (P2) and Reflector (A/A2). OCC only received a letter indicating the lamps meet Clearance Lamp (P2). Turn off LP Gas at LPG Tank(s). Disconnect the vehicles’ battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power. Block any tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.

STEP 1. LOOSEN AND REMOVE THE SNAP-ON LENS FROM THE ORIGINAL LIGHT FIXTURE; STEP 2. REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS THAT ARE HOLDING THE LIGHT ON
STEP 3. GENTLY REMOVE THE LIGHT BASE FROM THE UNIT.
• CUT AND LOOSEN ANY SILICONE FROM AROUND THE LIGHT FIXTURE BASE TO REMOVE IT;
• CLEAN OFF ANY REMAINING SILICONE FROM THE UNIT;
STEP 4. OPEN THE LEVER ON THE WAGO CONNECTOR HOLDING THE WHITE WIRE FROM THE LIGHT FIXTURE AND REMOVE THE WIRE FROM THE CONNECTOR;
• INSERT THE WHITE WIRE FROM THE NEW LIGHT FIXTURE INTO THE CONNECTOR AND CLOSE THE LEVER; STEP 5. OPEN THE LEVER ON THE WAGO CONNECTOR HOLDING THE COLORED WIRE FROM THE LIGHT FIXTURE AND REMOVE THE WIRE FROM THE CONNECTOR;
• INSERT THE COLORED WIRE FROM THE NEW LIGHT FIXTURE INTO THE CONNECTOR AND CLOSE THE LEVER; STEP 6. PRESS THE FOAM GASKET INTO THE BACK OF THE LIGHT BASE UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY SEATED;
STEP 7. REINSTALL THE NEW LIGHT FIXTURE BASE USING THE ORIGINAL SCREWS; STEP 8. GENTLY PRESS THE NEW LENS ONTO THE BASE;
STEP 9. SEAL ALL AROUND THE EDGE OF THE NEW LIGHT FIXTURE WITH CLEAR SILICONE

WHAT IS THE NONCOMPLIANCE?
The side marker lamps do not reflect light as intended per FMVSS 108 Requirements.
EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.
An approaching vehicle from the rear or side may not get the proper indication if conspicuity from the suspect vehicle. Non-reflective side marker lights can reduce the trailer’s visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the side marker lamps do not meet FMVSS 108.
WHAT IS FOREST RIVER AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?
Forest River is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest River completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. The Dealership or Service Center will replace the side marker lamps with lamps that meet F/CMVSS requirements. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy. You may also visit www.forestriverinc.com for dealer locations.
HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?
The estimated time of repair is 1.2 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.
