Summary
Nova Bus
(US) Inc. (Nova Bus
) is recalling certain 2017-2018 LFS and LFS Artic buses. The driver’s door windows may have been built with the incorrect prime glazing manufacturer DOT code mark. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 205, “Glazing Materials.”
Remedy
Nova Bus
will inspect the windows and either replace the windows or remove the incorrect marking, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 19, 2024. Owners may contact Nova Bus
customer service at 1-800-350-6682. Nova Bus
number for this recall is CR5546.

files 573 with NHTSA that a voluntary recall will be released to address the noncompliance related to this issue.
There have been no accidents or injuries related to this defect. There have been no warranty claims.

Description of the Safety Risk : In the event that the that the driver door windowpane is replaced with glass glazing conforming to AS-5, rather than the required AS-2 there is a potential reduction in driver visibility increasing the risk of a crash.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Remedy program will be to perform an inspection of the windowpanes for
erroneous marking on potentially impacted vehicles. Windowpanes with erroneous markings will be corrected as outlined in Guardian Industries equipment recall 20E-023, we will either replace the windows or manually sand etch AS-2 and block out the misprinted AS number on the label on the existing window in the installed position. By blocking out the misprint AS number, it will no longer be visible. As we determine where the windows are located, we will determine which option makes more sense. All costs associated with this corrective measure will be covered by Nova Bus
. Pre- notification remedies will be addressed using the Nova Bus
general reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
