Summary
Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Vision and 2021-2023 All American transit buses. The convertible seats may have been incorrectly installed, which can result in an unsecured seat. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and repair the seat, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 05, 2024. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird’s number for this recall is R24CM-NSB.

Chronology :
October 21, 2022: A master audit was conducted which discovered random locations at the floor joint were missing underfloor washers.
October 22, 2022: Lot sweep was conducted at Blue Bird on 298 buses and buses found with missing washers had the washers installed.
October, 2022 through January, 2024: Warranty data was tracked and field audits conducted discovering low occurrence rates, although no specific window of affected units within the affected model years.
February 1, 2024: Determination made to proceed with recall for the entire suspect population.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Visual inspection will be required to ensure that the proper seat hardware
is installed. If any components are missing, the necessary seat hardware will be installed according to the Blue Bird recall instructions.
If the modifications directed by this notification were performed on your bus prior to the receipt of this recall notification, provide a copy of the work order/invoice to [email protected] for Blue Bird warranty consideration. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Parts are required and will be available when the recall releases.
A remedied seat installation will have an underfloor washer installed at each of the rear seat bolt locations.
On October 21, 2022, Production Quality modified their quality checklist to add a line item to verify the convertible seat installation including the seat washer and the L-Bracket for interference conditions. Recall Schedule :
