Mack Trucks
, Inc. (Mack
) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Granite vehicles. The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) listed on the vehicle certification label is incorrect, which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”
Remedy
Dealers will provide new labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 26, 2024. Owners may contact Mack
customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack

Description
Certain vehicles equipped with auxiliary axles equipped with tires as specified by the customer have an incorrect weight value for the auxiliary axle. The auxiliary axle rating of the vehicle is lower than identified on the vehicle label.
Improper value shown on the label could subject the vehicle to misuse, which could result in a crash.
Vehicles will be recalled and the remedy program will be to remove the existing incorrect label and replace it with a corrected label.

Dealer Responsibilities
- The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act require dealers to ensure that all new and used vehicles are free of safety defects and comply with all relevant safety standards at the time of delivery to the consumer.
- Dealers should make their personnel aware of the safety recall. In the event that a dealer has a vehicle included in the safety recall in their inventory to be sold, the condition must be corrected before releasing it to a customer.

- Vehicle list will be posted on the Trucks Dealer Portal March 05, 2024.
- Owner notification letters will be released on or before April 26, 2024.

Manufacturing identifies that they have vehicles impacted by the calculation issue at the factory and initiates an internal campaign.
February 14, 2024 Product Safety Office is informed of a potential issue in compliance with 49CFR 567 for vehicle and an investigation is opened.
February 21, 2024 Investigation findings are reviewed with Product Compliance Committee and recommendation that this be brought to Product Safety Committee.
February 26, 2024 Product Safety Committee meets and reviews evaluation and determines that a product noncompliance exists and a recall will be performed.
March 1, 2024 DIR 573 Report filed with NHTSA
