LED Backlight Circuit Board Failure May Cause Fire

Summary
Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Montana, 2021-2022 Montana High Country, 2022-2024 Fuzion, 2021 Crossroads Cruiser, and 2024 Dutchmen Aspen Trail LOFT vehicles. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.
Remedy
Dealers can remove the LED backlights or terminate the circuit for the red LED lights, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone’s number for this recall is 24-452.

Chronology :
9/15/2023 – Initial report was made lights had melted on suburban stove knobs.
3/6/2024 – Investigation opened. All affected stoves were put on hold and yard was inspected no issues were reported. Warranty claims for melted knob failures include 29 claims, claim created start date June 1, 2023 to claim created end date September 23, 2023.
3/22/2024 – Suburban notifies Keystone of their recall filed with NHTSA
3/26/2024 – Investigation concluded and scope completed.

Description of the Defect : It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population with the Suburban stove LED backlight printed circuit boards (PCB) are not fully coated. The lack of adequate coating in the connection passages between the layers of the PCB can allow liquid from the cooktop surface to accumulate which could result in a short circuit resulting in failure of the PCB.
