In early March 2024, Winnebago Product Safety found a defect in wiring on certain Access models. The defect was found through dealership warranty submissions. Production was immediately notified and an investigation was opened. On March 28,2024 the Product Safety Committee reviewed all available information and decided the issue presented an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. Winnebago is aware of 6 dealership submissions with no incidents involving a customer. The first submission occurred February 2, 2024. There are no injuries related to this issue. Description of Remedy Program : Reimbursement requests will follow the general reimbursement plan on
file with NHTSA. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Winnebago will provide instructions on how to correctly wire the GFCI circuitry.
The condition was inspected and corrected in production immediately on the affected model series. Updated prints and work instructions will be made available to production when completed. THIS NOTICE APPLIES TO YOUR VEHICLE. «ModelYear» Winnebago «Series» «Model» VIN: «VINNumber» April 26, 2024 Dear Winnebago Owner: This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Winnebago of Indiana has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on certain 2024 Access models. These vehicles were manufactured December 4, 2023 through January 19, 2024. REASON FOR THIS RECALL On certain 2024 Winnebago Access models the wiring on the GFCI outlets circuit is incorrect, leading to outlets without GFCI protection in areas that should be protected. If an outlet isn’t protected by GFCI, it could fail in an unsafe manner, which can increase the risk of electrocution or injury. WHAT WE WILL DO On affected vehicles, Winnebago dealers will correct the GFCI circuit wiring by adding a GFCI outlet upstream of the outlets that need protection. The time necessary to complete the repair will be approximately 20 minutes. Please allow additional time for the dealer to process your vehicle. This repair will be done at no charge to you. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO Please contact your selling or nearest Winnebago dealer immediately to schedule an appointment. Winnebago dealers are best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to ensure your vehicle is corrected as promptly as possible. Do not deliver any subject trailer until corrective action has been taken. All vehicles subject to this campaign are to be serviced at no charge to the owners regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership from this time forward.
Important Reminder: It is a violation of federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification until the noncompliance is remedied.
