Short Circuit from Incorrectly Routed Wiring
A short circuit increases the risk of a fire. In addition, a loss of drive power, power steering, and brake system control increases the risk of a crash.

Summary
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Jayco Terrain, and Entegra Launch motorhomes. The main wiring harness may chafe against the drive shaft and short circuit, which can result in a loss of drive power, power steering, and brake system control.
Remedy
Mercedes dealers will inspect the routing of the main wiring harness and correct it, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 7, 2024. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267.

On April 12, 2024, Jayco received notification via US mail from Mercedes Benz of an active recall 24V-166 regarding the main wiring harness routing. On April 15, 2024, Jayco’s Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) reviewed the incident and elevated it to CPAC. On April 17, 2024, The Corrective Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) decided to elevate the incident to the Safety Steering Committee (SSC). On April 25, 2024, SSC voted to proceed with a pass through chassis recall.

Description of the Defect : Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Sprinter vehicles and the Jayco Motorized Division has determined that on certain 2023 Sprinter (907 platform) vehicles, the routing of the main wiring harness might not meet specifications. This includes certain model year (“MY”) 2023-2024 Entegra Coach Launch and Jayco Terrain Class B motorhomes, FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR
Description of the Safety Risk : In this case, the wiring harness might contact the drive shaft, and chafing over time could result in a short circuit of various wires in the harness. Depending on the affected wire, a risk of fire, loss of propulsion without warning, or failure of the power steering and brake control system cannot be ruled out. Description of the Cause : Due to a deviation in the production process, the main wiring harness might not have been routed as specified. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : As a precautionary measure, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will
inspect the routing of the main wiring harness on the affected vehicles and rework it, if necessary. If you have already paid to have this recall condition corrected, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement.
Requests for reimbursement may include parts, labor, fees and taxes. An original or clear copy of all receipts showing name, address, VIN, problem, repair, who did the repair, cost, proof of payment are required.
Daimler will be reporting the quarterly completion rates to NHTSA. Jayco Inc. is not aware aware of any claims associated with this matter, How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : There is no defect in part, only the routing of the wire harness. A change in the production procedure ensures that this issue can no longer occur in production from November 2022 onwards. However, the last potentially improperly reworked vehicle left the plant on March 9, 2023. Recall Schedule :
