April 24 2024 ABC Bus, Inc. learned of an equipment recall filed by Eberspacher Climate Control System Intl., 24E030. ABC Bus, Inc. is the importer into the US of buses manufactured by Van Hool in Europe.
April 25, 2024 to May 13, 2024 ABC Bus, Inc. investigated whether the Eberspacher component is installed on Van Hool buses imported into the United States, because the Eberspacher Part 573 report did not list Van Hool as a purchaser of the subject component. ABC Bus, Inc. confirmed that the subject component was installed on a number of Van Hool buses imported into the United States by ABC Bus, Inc..

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : ABC Bus IInc, will inspect all subject vehicles and, if required, clean the
heater’s
internal components, replace damaged components, and adequately adjust the air-to-fuel ratio per the supplier’s instructions. Letters will be sent to customers to inform them of how to proceed. ABC Bus Inc. will execute this correction free of charge (parts and labor) for the customers. In case a customer has already inspected and corrected this defect before the safety recall has been launched, this customer will be reimbursed according to ABC Bus Inc. reimbursement plan. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : According to the supplier, the remedy component will be properly calibrated to avoid potential excessive exhaust gas values.
ABC Bus, Inc. has confirmed that buses delivered to customers after April 25, 2024, will have the rework performed before delivery. For information about how the supplier corrected the component in production, see the report filed in 24E030. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : ABC Bus, Inc. will conduct the recall and notify owners. The timing of
owner notification will be determined in consultation with Eberspächer. ABC Bus, Inc. notices will be mailed no later than July 12, 2024. If the remedy and parts are not yet finalized it will be an interim notice
