A missing emergency exit window could prevent or delay the occupants from exiting in the event of an emergency, increasing the risk of injury.

Summary
Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Byway motorhomes. The secondary emergency exit in the bedroom was not installed.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the bedroom window with an egress window, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 12, 2024. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661. Tiffin’s number for this recall is TIF-139.

Chronology :
Compliance was notified 05/09/2024 of lack of secondary egress from the bedroom on floorplans 38 BL and 38 CL on the Byway motorhome. Questions were asked and rather than look at the supplementary book, the larger manual from RVIA was addressed. A short investigation ensued and 05/14/2024 it was decided that a safety issue did exist as well as Code 6.2.1 in the National Fire Protection Agency 1192 not being met.

Description of Remedy Program : For the units involved in the recall, a larger egress window will be installed
in the bedroom where there is already a regular window installed. This new installation will be completed at no charge to the customer. There is no plan for reimbursement because any repairs would have fallen our 12 month factory warranty. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The remedy component will be an egress window clearly marked with an EXIT label that meets the NFPA requirements.
All units that have been built and not yet been shipped have had a “Sales Hold” put on them until they have the new larger egress window installed. Engineering has added an additional window to units yet to be built. The new egress window will be added above the head of the bed. Recall Schedule :

all owners of units involved in the recall. Notification will be mailed no later than July 12, 2024.
