Battery Tray May Detach From Chassis
If the battery tray detaches from the chassis, the battery may discharge, causing the vehicle to stall and increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Omni and Magnitude motorhomes. The battery tray may be improperly welded to the chassis frame, allowing the battery tray to detach from the chassis.
Remedy
TMC has notified owners, and dealers will weld on an additional support to the battery tray, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC’s number for this recall is RC000171.

Issue:
The battery tray that is welded onto the frame of F550 chassis could be compromised due to inadequate welds. Production run on a specific line at MORryde had inadequate weld applied. The inadequate welds have a potential of failing causing the battery tray to break free from the chassis and allowing the contents of the tray to discharge. This could potentially cause personal injury, property damage, a crash. In addition, if the battery posts or cables make contact with surrounding metal components, this could cause an electrical short, increasing the risk of a potential fire.
Thor Super C Battery Tray Repair Instructions
OBJECTIVE: Weld on additional support to the battery tray.
Supplemental Information: The battery tray is located directly under the entry step on the passenger side of the unit. This tray can be accessed by unlatching the top step. It is also accessible underneath the unit behind the sidewall.
Materials Required:
- Weld resistant blankets
- Welder
- Black spray paint
- Two steel 1” x 1” formed angles six inches long 14 gage or thicker
NOTE: Up to $15 will be covered during claim process for shop supplies used to complete recall repair.
Repair Instructions:
- Open the hood and disconnect the positive and then the negative battery cables on both batteries. Once batteries have been disconnected, unclip all three harnesses on the electronic control module.
- Locate the battery tray and disconnect both house batteries then wrap batteries, battery cables and fuse boxes with weld resistant blankets.
- Weld one of the 1” X 1” angles to the inside or outside of each battery tray leg. The angle should be placed flush up against the side of the battery tray and flat up against the chassis. At least two inches of the angle should make contact to the battery tray to provide the required support. Weld all vertical seams available where the angle touches the battery tray or chassis rail. Do not weld on the chassis frame bend radius.
- After work area has been able to cool, scrap off all burned off paint. Spray paint the newly installed angle, all welds and any areas where the original paint has burned off.
- Remove all weld blankets, reconnect the electronic control module and both batteries.

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2019/2020 Magnitude & Omni motorhomes. As a result, TMC is conducting a safety recall. We apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause you; however your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us.

| What we will do | MC has contacted your selling dealer and has instructed them on how to reinforce the weld area of battery tray. This will be done at no cost to you the owner. The remedy should take approximately one (1) hour to perform. |

It has been discovered that on certain model year 2019/2020 Magnitude & Omni Motorhomes, the battery tray has inadequate welds onto the chassis frame. The inadequate welds have a potential of failing causing the battery tray to break free from the chassis and allowing the contents of the tray to discharge. This could potentially cause personal injury, property damage, a crash. In addition, if the battery posts or cables make contact with surrounding metal components, this could cause an electrical short, increasing the risk of a potential fire.
The required action is to reinforce the weld area of battery tray.
Dealers that have stock units impacted by this recall can access the full list of affected VINs sold to their dealership by accessing the “Service Campaign” portion of the TMC Advantage Web Portal. If any unit on this list has been retail sold you are asked to notify the retail owner as soon as possible of this recall because their vehicle was not registered at the time the retail notice was mailed. Please immediately register any retail sold units on this list. As a reminder, you are required by law to complete this recall on any stock units in inventory prior to retail sale. Any vehicle lessor receiving this notice must forward a copy to the lessee within 10 days.
