Summary
Halcore Group, Inc. (Halcore) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Horton Type I and Type III Emergency vehicles. Due to improper manufacturing, the cushion of the Inflatable Head Cushion (IHC) and Knee Air Bag (KAB) may detach during a deployment event and not inflate.
Remedy
Halcore will notify owners and dealers will install replacement air bags when they become available, free of charge. Halcore issued owners an interim notification on September 6, 2019. The recall began September 20, 2019. Owners may contact Halcore customer service at 1-800-447-0343.

Dear Horton Emergency Vehicle Ambulance Owner,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle
Safety Act. Horton has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 20182020 Horton Emergency Vehicles Type I and Type III ambulances built with IMMI airbag cushions, as part of the IHC and/or KAB assemblies. This may affect vehicles manufactured between April 11, 2019 and June 26, 2019. Our records indicate that your ambulance may be equipped with IMMI airbag cushions or KAB assemblies within this particular date range.
WHAT IS BEING RECALLED?
Certain Horton ambulances built with IMMI airbag cushions, as part of the IHC and/or KAB Assemblies sold between April 11, 2019 and June 26, 2019. Horton Units delivered from April 26, 2019 to July 15, 2019 could potentially be affected. Part numbers A38541-305, A38541-306, A38541-307, A38541-308, A38541-309, A38541-310, A38541-311, A38541-312, A38541-313, A38541-314.

WHY IS IT BEING RECALLED?
Horton Emergency Vehicles has received independent reports that the IMMI airbags subject to this recall under normal deployment, the airbag cushion, as part of the IHC and/or KAB assemblies, may not be retained on the inflation gas line resulting in an incomplete inflation of the cushion or no retention of pressure in the cushion during deployment. The safety risk to the occupant is that the IHC/KAB may not fully inflate and therefore may not provide the intended supplemental protection to the occupant.
WHAT YOU AS THE OWNER/OPERATOR SHOULD DO:
Please contact your local dealer to schedule an inspection of your airbags. Dealers will record the serial number of the IHC airbag and disable if serial number is listed on the affected serial number list. Dealer will report this number back to [email protected] along with production number of unit so that we can ensure that all affected airbags are disabled.
WHAT IMMI AND HORTON WILL DO:
Due to the hazardous materials, Horton Emergency Vehicles is not certified for hazardous shipping and is not able to ship these parts on behalf of the vendor. IMMI will provide resistors, instructions on how to disable the units, and labels to be installed on airbags which state “Airbag Disabled” to the end user. Replacement parts are expected to be available by September 30, 2019. Dealer technician will schedule and install replacement airbag upon receipt of replacement parts, free of charge. This is only one of two notices that you receive regarding this recall. A second notice will be distributed once replacement parts become available.
