Loose Power Steering Mounting Bolts
A loose steering column shaft may cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Entegra Coach (Entegra) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Insignia, Anthem, Aspire, Cornerstone, Reatta, and Reatta XL motorhomes. The upper and lower steering shaft bolts may have been insufficiently tightened, allowing the steering column shaft to come loose.
Remedy
Entegra will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the upper and lower steering shaft bolts, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2019. Owners may contact Entegra customer service at 1-800-517-9137. Entegra’s number for this recall is 9901434.

INSTRUCTIONS – Anthem, Cornerstone & Aspire(LOWER steering shaft bolt)
FIG 1: Open the generator compartment using the switch (arrow) inside the driver side front electrical compartment.
FIG 2: Bolt is located on the right side of the generator behind the washer fluid bottle (arrow).
FIG 3: Bolt location is circled in this photo.
FIG 4: Arrow is pointing to the Steering Slip Shaft bolt.
- Move wiring out of the way to see it.
- IF WHITE LINE RUNNING FROM BOLT HEAD TO THE NUT – NO REPAIR IS REQUIRED – BOLT WAS TORQUED TO 45FT LBS PRIOR TO SHIPPING.

SPECIFICATIONS
- Bolt head size takes a 5/8” socket or wrench.
- Nut size takes an 11/16” socket
- Use a torque wrench and torque the nut to 45 ft./lbs.
- Mark the bolt with a white line as shown in photo to indicate the bolt has been torqued properly.
INSTRUCTIONS – Anthem, Cornerstone & Aspire (UPPER steering shaft bolt)
FIG 6:
- Upper steering shaft bolt is located on the steering column, beneath the steering wheel and under the large rubber boot.
- Lower the rubber boot on the steering column to see the bolt.
FIG 7:
- Examine the upper steering shaft bolt ( front and back side of the steering column).
- If the bolt has been properly torqued at the factory there will be a white line running from the head of the bolt to the nut end of the bolt on the dash side of the steering column as shown in this photo (arrow).
IF THE WHITE LINE IS NOT VISIBLE PROCEED TO NEXT STEP TO COMPLETE REMEDY.
Bolt head will require a 5/8” wrench or socket.
Nut on the bolt will require an 11/16” socket.
Use a torque wrench (FT/LBS) and torque the nut end to 45 Ft/Lbs.
Mark the bolt with a white line as shown in photo to indicate the bolt has been torqued properly.
Replace the rubber boot back over the bolt.
INSTRUCTIONS – Embark, Reatta & Reatta XL (UPPER & LOWER bolts)
Both the upper and lower slip shaft bolts are located under the floor.
The generator slide compartment must be opened to access the slip shaft bolts.
Pull the generator slide manual release lever located in the electrical compartment beneath the driver side window (FIG 10).
Both bolts should be visible on the steering shaft, one above the steering U-joint and one below the steering U-joint.
FIG 8:
- This is the lower slip shaft bolt below the U-joint.
- If the bolt has been properly torqued at the factory there will be a white line running from the head of the bolt to the nut end of the bolt (arrow).
FIG 9:
- This is the upper slip shaft bolt which is directly above the U-joint shown in Fig 8.
- If the bolt has been properly torqued at the factory there will be a white line running from the head of the bolt to the nut end of the bolt (arrow).
IF THE WHITE LINE IS NOT VISIBLE PROCEED TO NEXT STEP TO COMPLETE REMEDY.
Bolt head will require a 5/8” wrench or socket.
Nut on the bolt will require an 11/16” socket.
Use a torque wrench (FT/LBS) and torque the nut end to 45 Ft/Lbs.
Mark the bolt with a white line as shown in photo to indicate the bolt has been torqued properly.
Repeat this torque procedure for both slip shaft bolts (if the white line is missing).

Retail Instructions to INSPECT THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT BOLT
- Turn the ignition ON (the engine does not need to be running)
- Make sure there is an unobstructed area 3 feet in front of the motorhome.
- Open the generator compartment using the switch (arrow) inside the driver side front electrical compartment. Press and hold the switch until compartment is fully extended.
- The steering shaft bolt is located on the right side of the generator behind the washer fluid bottle (arrow).
- Bolt location is circled in this photo.
- Arrow is pointing to the Steering Shaft bolt.
- Wiring harnesses may have to be moved aside to see it.
- If there is a white line running from the bolt head to the nut as shown in the photo (large arrow), this bolt is torqued to the proper specification.
- Close the generator compartment using the switch shown in Fig 1.
- Ignition must be ON to close the compartment (engine does not need to be running).
- Hold the switch, until the compartment closes completely.
PROCEED TO THE INSPECTION OF THE UPPER BOLT.
Retail Instructions to INSPECT THE UPPER STEERING SHAFT BOLT
- Upper steering shaft bolt is located on the steering column, beneath the steering wheel and under the large rubber boot.
- Lower the rubber boot on the steering column to see the bolt. FIG 7:
- Examine the upper steering shaft bolt (front and back of the steering column).
- If there is a white line running from the bolt head to the nut as shown in the photo (large arrow), the bolt is torqued to the proper specification.
- IF WHITE LINE IS NOT PRESENT – THE BOLT IS NOT TORQUED PROPERLY.
PROCEED TO THE PRECAUTION STEP BEFORE YOU DRIVE YOUR MOTORHOME
PRECAUTION STEP
The bolt threads visible in Fig 5 AND 6 ( for Upper and Lower bolts) must be at least two threads past the nut for the locking feature to be engaged, to ensure your safety to travel to a Dealer to have the bolt/s properly torqued at 45 ft. lbs.
If there are less than two threads showing past the nut, you must tighten with a 5/8” wrench on the bolt side / 11/16” on the nut size, till at least two threads are past the nut. This must be completed prior to moving your motorhome.

Jayco
has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exits in certain Model Year 2019 2020 Entegra Anthem, Aspire, Cornerstone, Insignia, Reatta and Reatta XL Class A Motorhomes and 2019 Jayco
Embark Class A Motorhomes.
| Reason for this | The upper and lower steering shaft bolt may not be torqued to 45 ft. /lbs. as specified. An unsecured bolt could allow the steering wheel not to function, affecting drivability and increasing the risk of a crash. |
| Recall Remedy | Inspection is required for evidence that each bolt (2) is torqued to 45ft/lbs. A white line from the steering shaft bolt head to the nut confirms the bolt was torqued per specifcaitons and no further repair is required. The omittance of the white line notes the bolt was not properly torqued prior to shipping and Special Precautions are required prior to moving your motorhome. |

Form noting the results of the inspection. When applciable, contact an authorized Dealer to schedule an appointment to have this remedy completed free of charge. The recall remedy will take approxiamtly thirty minutes. |
If you had this repair completed prior to receipt of this recall notice, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall.
