Summary

Temsa Global Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S. (Temsa) is recalling 2013-2020 certain TS35C, TS35E and TS45 buses. The instruction label of the emergency exit windows may be inadequate to clearly describe how to open the push out windows quickly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, “Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release.”

 

Remedy

Temsa will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the labels, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 16, 2019. Owners may contact Temsa customer service at 1-407-271-8935.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

1. Mechanical Requested Dress Code

 

WARNING:  Dress properly to avoid personal injury and damage to the vehicle

 

Always wear protective clothing Do not wear any worn or loose-fitting clothing Remove jewelry before starting to work In case of long hair, use hairnet The illustration on the left shows some of the correct and incorrect clothing Sharp edged items should be avoided in order not to scratch vehicle (i.e. belts, watches, necklace)

 

 

2. Protect Seats when Mechanic Starts Working

 

Seats, trimming, upholstery stuff and carpeting should be protected with appropriate coverings.

 

 

3. Welding on the Chassis
   1. Always disconnect the batteries (starting with the negative lead).
   2. Disconnect the connectors of electrical and electronic equipment (electronic control units, sensors and actuators) if they are less than 2 meters away from the chassis part to be welded or the earth terminal of the welding equipment.
   3. The earth terminal should never be attached to vehicle components such as engine, axles and springs. Arcing on these parts is not permitted, because of the risk of damage to bearings, springs, etc.
   4. The earth terminal must make good contact and be placed as close as possible to the part to be welded.
   5. Plastic pipes, rubber parts and parabolic springs should be well protected against welding spatter and temperatures higher than 70°.
   6. The contact switch must not be in the accessory or contact position. The contact key should be removed.
   7. Reconnect in reversed order of disconnecting. Ensure that a good earth connection is made between chassis, engine and cab.

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. There are 3 emergency exit windows on each side of the vehicle and each emergency exit has one handle to open the window. The label must be changed which is located by the window as shown in the below picture (See Figure-1)

 

2. Remove all labels and stick new labels by means of the given dimensions in the picture below (See Figure-2)

Attention Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Temsa Ulasim Araclari Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Temsa) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020 TS35C, TS35E & TS45 motorcoaches manufactured between May 2013, to July 2019. On the recalled vehicles, operating instructions of the push out windows labels may be inadequate to open the emergency exit rapidly.  Delays in opening emergency exits can increase the risk of an injury in the event of an emergency.

Temsa is conducting a recall with a service bulletin; the instruction labels of emergency exit windows will be checked and replaced with new ones. The recall work will be provided at no cost to you. Temsa estimates that it will take 15 minutes to inspect and repair each affected vehicle. Temsa records indicate that you are the owner or operator of the following vehicle(s) included in this recall:
