Driveshaft Clamp Bolts Improperly Tightened
The driveshaft connection may separate resulting in a loss of drive. Additionally, a section of the driveshaft may detach from the vehicle, becoming a road hazard. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Prevost
Cars, Inc. (Prevost
) is recalling certain 2020 Prevost
X3-45 VIP, X3-45 Passenger, H3-45 VIP, and H3-45 Passenger coach buses. The driveshaft clamp bolts may not be properly tightened.
Remedy
Prevost
has notified owners, and will replace and properly tighten the driveshaft clamp bolts, free of charge. The recall began December 19, 2019. Owners may contact Prevost
customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost
’s number for this recall is SR19-43.

DESCRIPTION
On vehicles affected by this recall, all straps and bolts of the drive shaft couplings between the transmission and the differential have to be replaced. All new bolts have to be tightened to a torque value specified into that document.
MATERIAL
Order kit #SR19-43 that contains the following parts:

PROCEDURE
| DANGER |
| Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop the engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button.
Lock out & Tag out (LOTO) must be performed during set-up, maintenance or repair activities. Refer to your local procedure for detailed information regarding the control of hazardous energy. |
- Hoist the vehicle according to the required procedure.
- Install jacks under the differential carrier
. - Remove the parking brake.
- Low down slightly the elevators just to make the rear wheel to turn freely and alloy the drive shaft to turn freely.
| NOTE |
| Inspect visually all bolts. Threads should not be damaged or should not have presence of metal fillings. |
| NOTE |
| In case of important thread damages or metal filings, it might be necessary to replace the transmission coupling. If necessary, replacement of the coupling is considered as a different operation. |
- Dismount both screws of only one strap on the transmission coupling and remove the strap.
- Install a new strap with new bolts.
- Tighten bolts just to get the components in contact.
- Repeat steps 5 to 7 for the opposite strap on the transmission coupling.
| NOTE |
| Tightening in step 7 should be lower to the torque wrench click. If it is not the case loosen the bolts and apply the final tightening. |
- Complete the tightening of the 4 bolts for both straps on the transmission coupling following the sequence shown in Figure 4.
- Tighten the bolts to a torque value of 110 lb-ft.
- Repeat previous steps for the differential coupling.
- Apply parking break.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Bulletin is complete.
PARTS DISPOSITION
DO NOT RETURN THE REPLACED PARTS. Discard waste according to applicable environmental regulations (Municipal/State[Prov.]/ Federal)
WARRANTY
This modification is covered by Prevost
’s normal warranty. We will reimburse you the parts and 1H00 of labor upon receipt of a completed A.F.A. Please submit claim via our Online Warranty System, available at www.prevostcar.com (under service \ warranty section). Use Claim Type: “Bulletin/Recall” and select ‘’Safety Recall SR19-43 “.

SAFETY RECALL SR19-43 “DRIVE SHAFT BOLTS TIGHTENING”
Dear Customer,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act and 49 CFR Part 573.
Prevost
Car US Inc. has decided that a defect, which relates to power train safety, exists on certain 2020 H3-45 (Coaches and VIP) and X3-45 (Coaches and VIP).
According to our records, you are the registered owner of the following vehicles involved in safety recall SR19-43 :

DEFECT DESCRIPTION
On the vehicles involved, driveshaft clamps bolts might not be properly torqued.
FAILURE CONSEQUENCE
Disable vehicle may lead to transferring passengers on the side of the road and this may increase the risk of a passenger death or injury. Half driveshaft falling from the vehicle may also increase the risk of road hazard, which may increase the risk of crash.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
On the vehicles involved, all bolts retaining the drive shaft to the transmission yoke and the differential yoke have to be replaced and tighten to a torque value specified into the safety recall procedure document.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Please make an appointment to your nearest Prevost
Service Center and refer to SR19-43 to have the work performed free of charge.
Optionally, you may have the work performed by qualified personnel of your choice, following the Safety Recall SR19-43 procedure that can be found on Prevost Technical Publications web site at this address: https://techpub.prevostcar.com/en/
Prevost
will reimburse you parts and labor as described in the SR19-43 procedure. Please file an online warranty claim following normal Campaign procedures if you are a registered customer, otherwise, contact the Prevost
Warranty Department at 1-866-870-2046 for reimbursement instructions.
The time to inspect and repair your vehicle is approximately 1 hour.
PRE NOTIFICATION REMEDIES
If you have previously paid for repairs as a result of this issue, you may be entitled to recovery of those expenses. Prevost
Car US will reimburse the claimant by check for the reasonable amount paid for repairs (i.e. the cost of parts, labor, disposal fees and taxes) that addressed the defect as stated in the safety recall notification. To qualify, repairs must have been completed no earlier than one year prior to the release of the recall and no later than 10 days after the release of the recall mailing of the initial customer notification letter pertaining to the recall. To get reimbursed, please file an online warranty claim following normal Campaign procedures if you are a registered customer, otherwise, contact the Prevost
Warranty Department at 1-866-870-2046 for reimbursement instructions.
NOTICE REGARDING LEASED VEHICLES
If you are a Lessor of vehicles subject to this Notice, you have an obligation under Federal Law to provide a copy of this Notice to all Lessees within 10 working days of your receipt of this Notice. Further, you must maintain a record, which identifies the Lessee(s) to whom you send a copy of this letter, the date you send this letter and the Vehicle Identification Number(s) of the vehicle that you have leased to that lessee. For purposes of this Notice, the term Lessor means: a person or entity that is the owner, as reflected on the vehicle’s title, of any five or more leased vehicles (as defined in CFR Section 577.4), as of the date of notification by the manufacturer of the existence of a safety-related defect or noncompliance with a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard in one or more of the leased motor vehicles.
