Summary

Corp. Micro Bird Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2015-2018 T-Series transit buses. These vehicles are equipped with at least one three-place seat that has Type 1 (lap belt) seat belts. In the event of a crash, the seats or seat belt attachments may not remain secured to the floor. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages,” and number 207, “Seating Systems.”

 

Remedy

Micro Bird will notify owners, and dealers will install a modification kit to keep the seat and seat belt assembly anchored, free of charge. The recall began on April 3, 2018. Owners may contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012. Micro Bird’s number for this recall is 18-073-TUS.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

 

What is being recalled?

Corp. Micro Bird Inc. (Micro Bird) has decided that certain model T-Series school buses, year models 2015-2018, manufactured between April 2015 and December 2017, fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) number 207, “Seating systems” and number 210, “Seat belt assembly anchorages.”

 

Why is it being recalled?

School buses equipped with at least one three-place seat having Type 1 seat belts (lap belts) and built with the floor construction that failed the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, “Seating systems” and number 210, “Seat belt assembly anchorages” test.

 

What is the safety issue?

In the event of a crash, seat or seat belt attachment assemblies may fail, resulting in an increased risk of injury or fatality.

 

What are we asking you to do?

• Immediately locate the affected unit(s) in your fleet and contact Dave Caskenette by phone at 819 475-2012 ext. 364, by fax at 819 475-9633 or by email at [email protected] to order your repair kit(s). 
• For reimbursement, complete the reply sheet for each repaired vehicle and send it back to Micro Bird Corporation Inc. by fax at 819 475-9633 or by email at [email protected]. This will enable us to update our files.

 

What Micro Bird Corporation will do?

Micro Bird Corporation will provide a field modification instruction and material kit required to complete this recall repair at no cost to you.
