SUBJECT Front Brake Camshaft Seal Replacement
Models: V8-65L Front Axles, VOK-07 Front Axle with Drum Brake
SECTION TITLE 1 – FRONT AXLE & SUSPENSION
DETAILS This bulletin provides updated instructions for the replacement of the
inner seal (slack adjuster side) in the front brake camshaft support
bracket installed on your New Flyer vehicle. A new inner seal incorporating
a double lip design is available, refer to New Flyer Parts Manual Bulletin
PMB-041 to ensure the correct seal is being installed.
This information supersedes any prior information on this subject
already provided in your New Flyer Service Manuals. Make this Service
Bulletin available to service personnel to inform them of changed information.

1. Inner Seal Installation
1. Press in the inner seal (slack adjuster side)
using press-in tool. Refer to your New
Flyer Service Manual for special tool listing.
See “Fig. 1: Inner Seal Installation” on
page 2.
☞NOTE:
Use the pressing ring that has an internal
step with a conical surface. The conical
surface of the pressing ring should face the
seal.
☞NOTE:
The inner seal should be configured with
two sealing lips. Refer to New Flyer Parts
Bulletin PMB-041 to ensure correct seal is
being used at this location.
2. Lubricate the sealing lip of the seal with
grease.
☞NOTE:
Use multi-purpose grease with extreme
pressure additives such as Fuchs Renolit
LX-PEP 2 or equivalent meeting MAN
specification MAN 284 Li H2.
3. Press the seal into the bore until the pressing
ring contacts the step of the camshaft
support bracket.
☞NOTE:
The inner seal will be installed to the
proper depth when the surface of the seal
is flush with the step in the bore of the
camshaft support bracket.
