Freightliner Power Cables Incorrectly Routed
The misrouted power cables may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Summary
ARBOC Specialty Vehicles, LLC (ARBOC) is recalling certain 2016-2020 Spirit of America and 2014-2019 Spirit of Liberty buses built on a Freightliner
Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) chassis. The power cables on the driver’s side may have been routed incorrectly, allowing them to rub against the frame or make contact with the ground cable.
Remedy
ARBOC will notify owners, and dealers will re-route, inspect, and repair power cable wiring as needed, free of charge. The recall began June 24, 2020. Owners may contact ARBOC customer service at 1-866-953-5555. ARBOC’s number for this recall is RC059801.

Good Mechanics safety practice must be followed on any repairs.
Safety practices should include but not be limited to properly supporting the chassis, axles, blocking tires, and a work area free of clutter. Repair shops safety rules must be followed and safety equipment used. O.E.M. Battery and Auxiliary Battery MUST be disconnected.
The purpose of Recall 20V335 is on certain vehicles, inspection and/or relocation of power cables for proper routing and clearance is necessary to avoid chaffing of power cables which increases the potential for fire to occur.
Complaint:
Area #1: FCCC Power Cable rubbing against FCCC forward frame
Area #2: FCCC Positive Cable making contact with Ground Cable Cause: Incorrect routing from FCCC
Correction: Inspection and re‐routing per inspection/repair instructions

Electrical Routing ‐ Area #1:
- Open the front door/hood at the front of the unit.
- Locate wiring at the driver side of firewall to inspect if rubbing on the FCCC frame. Photo 1 ‐ Correct Routing ‐ Tight and pulled away from sharp frame edge
Photo 2 ‐ Incorrect Routing ‐ Loose and making contact with sharp edge frame
3A. If the unit is wired correctly (photo 1), please add an inspection mark to the firewall and submit warranty documentation including notation that NO further changes were required.
3B. If the unit is wired incorrectly (photo 2), please continue to the repair section for re‐wiring instructions. When completed, please submit warranty documentation of repairs completed.
Repair Instructions:
- Disconnect batteries
- Remove/Discard P‐Clamp
- Pull Cable upwards to create maximum separation from frame and add a P‐Clamp. NOTE: Excess cable should be above the P‐Clamp as shown in Photo 1.
- Re‐connect batteries
- Add witness mark for repairs completed.
Electrical Routing ‐ Area #2:
- Open the front door/hood at the front of the unit.
- Locate wiring at the driver side of firewall to inspect potential cable contact
Photo 3 ‐ Correct Routing ‐ Adequate spacing between positive and ground terminals
Photo 4 ‐ Incorrect Routing ‐ Cables routed over each other and/or making contact with each other
3A. If the unit is wired correctly (photo 3), please add an inspection mark to the firewall and submit warranty documentation including notation that NO further changes were required.
3B. If the unit is wired incorrectly (photo 4), please continue to the repair section for re‐wiring instructions. When completed, please submit warranty documentation of repairs completed.
Repair Instructions:
- Disconnect batteries
- Loosen positive and ground connections
- Re‐route cables to create maximum separation from each other.
- Re‐tighten lug connections (Torque = 45 ft/lbs)
- Re‐spray connections with di‐electric spray
- Re‐connect batteries
- Add witness mark for repairs completed.
