Summary

ECCO Holdings Corp. (ECCO) is recalling certain Code 3eBay logo 7×9 Stop-Tail-Turn Reverse All-in-One LED stop, tail, turn, and reverse lights sold primarily for use in emergency vehicles. The lights may be too bright, exceeding the maximum light output allowed which may adversely affect the vision of drivers. As such, these lamps fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

 

Remedy

ECCO will notify the emergency vehicle manufacturers that used the lights as original equipment and the customers that purchased the lights as replacement equipment. ECCO will provide a filter kit that will to ensure the lights perform in the correct photometric intensity ranges. The recall began July 29, 2020. Owners may contact ECCO at 1-314-426-2700.

We are writing to inform you that Code 3eBay logo is conducting a voluntary safety recall of 7 x 9 Stop-Tail-Turn-Reverse All-in-one LED Lamps, Part No. 79STTRBZ. Our records indicate that some of the recalled lamps were shipped to you. Please review this letter carefully for more information.

 

What Products are Involved?

This recall involves Code 3eBay logo 7 x 9 Stop-Tail-Turn-Reverse All-in-One LED Lamps, Part No. 79STTRBZ. These lamps were sold as original and replacement equipment for use primarily in emergency vehicles. The recall covers all products with this part number.

 

What is the Problem?

Recent quality testing conducted by Code 3eBay logo indicated that the subject lamps may exceed the maximum permissible candela levels specified in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 at certain test points. The increased photometric intensity may adversely affect the vision of following drivers, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

 

What should you do?

(a) Product Remaininq in Your Inventory: If any of the subject lamps remain in your inventory, you should return them to Code 3eBay logo. The returned parts will be replaced with 79STTRBZ-D lamps, that are currently available.

(b) Products Installed on New Vehicles: If any of the recalled lamps were installed in new motor vehicles that are no longer in your possession, you should consider your obligations to notify NHTSA in accordance with 49 CFR Part 573. A copy of Code 3eBay logo’s Part 573 Noncompliance Notification is attached for your information. This was submitted to NH TSA on June 22, 2020. Vehicle manufacturers may instruct owners to contact Code 3eBay logo to obtain a filter kit (Part No. CZ0199) free of charge. Installation of the kit will ensure that the lamps perform within the permissible photometric intensity ranges. Your Code 3eBay logo representative will work with you and your customers to facilitate this process.

They should (i) contact Code 3eBay logo at (314) 426-2700 or c3 [email protected] to arrange for the return of any remaining inventory and (ii) send a copy of the enclosed owner letter to any vehicle owners.

(c) Products You Installed or Sold to Consumers: You must immediately check your sale records to identify any end user purchasers and send those purchasers a copy of the enclosed NH TSA-approved owner letter.
