Rear Swing Arm Spare Tire Carrier Bracket May Fail
If the rear swing arm spare tire carrier
bracket weld fails, the spare tire may separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
High Altitude Trailer Co, LLC (HATC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 XT50 trailers retrofitted with a black rear swing arm spare tire carrier. The weld on the retrofitted rear swing arm bracket may fail causing the rear swing arm, spare tire, and any other attached items to break away from the trailer frame.
Remedy
HATC has notified owners, and dealers will add reinforcing welds along the top seam of the swing arm bracket and trailer frame, free of charge. For customers not in the immediate region, the manufacturer will coordinate with a local welding repair shop to add the welds and reimburse the shop directly. The recall began July 28, 2020. Owners may contact HATC customer service at 1-720-391-6685. HATC’s number for this recall is 2020G27.

Dear High Altitude Trailer Co Customer:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. High Altitude Trailer Co (HAT Co) has decide that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2019 / 2020 model year XT50 trailers. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.
IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?
The weld on the retrofitted rear swing arm bracket may fail causing the rear swing arm, spare tire, and any other attached items to break away from the trailer frame.
EVALUATION OF RICK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.
The rear swing arm may break away from the trailer frame which may increase the risk of personal injury, property damage, or death.
WHAT IS HAT CO AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?
HAT Co is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at the HAT Co manufacturing facility located in Sedalia, CO. HAT Co completely covers your cost for the remedy. If you live outside of the manufacturing facility’s region, you may have the work completed at an approved local repair facility.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please contact your dealer and the manufacturing facility without delay and request a service appointment to schedule the recall remedy. The vehicle Owner is responsible for coordinating to have the work completed. Please state you have notified by High Altitude of having a recall in process for your trailer and provide the recall number. It is also helpful to the manufacturer to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy.
HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?
The estimated time of repair is 2.00 hours. However, the manufacturer may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU NO LONGER OWN THIS VEHICLE?
If you no longer own this vehicle and have the address for the current owner, please forward this letter to the new owner within 10 working days after the day in which the notice is received. You have received this letter because government regulations require that a notification is sent to the last known owner of record. Our records indicate you are the current owner.
PLEASE NOTE: FEDERAL LAW REQUIRES THAT ANY VEHICLE LESSOR RECEIVING THIS RECALL NOTICE MUST FORWARD A COPY OF THIS NOTICE TO THE LESSEE WITHIN TEN DAYS.
