Summary
Futura Trailers Ltd (Futura) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Low Loader trailers. The left and right drawbars may disconnect from the front rail of the trailer chassis allowing the draw bars to swing and sever the trailer brake and light wires. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment,” and number 135, “Light Vehicle Brake Systems.”
Remedy
Futura will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional aluminum angle bracket to the junction of the left and right draw-bar, free of charge. The recall began on May 30, 2018. Owners may contact Futura customer service at 1-855-744-3877.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
| What is the issue? | Futura Trailers has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in your Futura Trailer with the VIN number shown above.
Fatigue cracks may develop in the point of attachment of front chassis rail to the tongue. If ignored the front chassis rail may detach from the tongue and could cause the brake and light wiring to be severed, causing loss of trailer brakes and lights, increasing the risk of a crash. The risk of failure can be accentuated if the trailer is operated fully loaded on rough or uneven surfaces for extended periods. |
| What will Futura and your Futura Dealer do? | The defect will be remedied by installing a backing plate on the bolts that fix the front chassis rail to the tongue. The remedy will be provided at no charge to you by your nearest Futura Trailers dealer or Futura Trailers representitive. |
| How long will it take? | The time needed to install the backing plates is approximately 30 minutes. |

The vehicle 7-way must provide active +12V power, ground and turn-signal circuits; a vehicle brake-output circuit is not required.
