Summary
Heartland
Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland
) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Cyclone and 2020-2021 Bighorn Traveler recreational trailers. Due to insufficient bracing, the front landing legs may buckle and collapse while the trailer is parked.
Remedy
Heartland
will notify owners, and dealers will install a jack bracket to reinforce the landing legs, free of charge. The recall began October 9, 2020. Owners may contact Heartland
customer service at 1-877-262-8032.

Cyclone Land leg bracket installation for all models excluding 3413
Description
It has been decided that certain 2019-2021 Heartland
Cyclones in this recall population may experience the front landing legs collapsing.
Inspection & Repair
1. Chock the wheels so the unit does not roll back while performing the repairs.
2. Use a tripod to take the weight off the front landing legs leaving the legs about ½”-1” off the ground.
3. Use a floor jack with a piece of wood wide & long enough to support the bracket in the middle.
4. Lift bracket using floor jack into position between the front leveling jacks until the bottom set of holes on the bracket are lined up with the bottom set of holes on the jack leg.
5. Use the provided shims that are 1/8” & 1/4” thick to ensure that the bracket has no more than a ½” gap to be closed up when tightening bolts. (Some brackets may not require any shims & will have less than ½” gap once in place)
6. Once the bracket holes are lined up use a ¾” impact socket and driver to start the stainless steel self-tapping bolts in the bottom two holes. Insert the matte silver bolts into the top holes and use a ¾” impact socket and driver on the bolt and a ¾” wrench to hold the nut on the back while tightening. Only snug up bolts until all bolts have been installed in the bracket.

7. Once you have all the bolts on both sides of the bracket snug all bolts down until tightened.
8. Using a torque wrench, torque all the bolts to 65 ft. lbs.
9. Lower the front landing legs back down and remove the tripod and wheel chock

Big Horn Traveler, Elkridge, & Cyclone 3413
Description
It has been decided that certain 2019-2021 Heartland
Cyclones 3413, 2020-2021 Big Horn Traveler, & 2020-2021 Elkridge in this recall population may experience the front landing legs collapsing.
Inspection & Repair
10. Chock the wheels so the unit does not roll back while performing the repairs.
11. Use a tripod to take the weight off the front landing legs leaving the legs, raising the legs about 6-8” off the ground.
12. Use a floor jack with a piece of wood wide & long enough to support the bracket in the middle.
13. The jack brackets bottom set of holes need to be lined up with the bottom set of holes in the jack leg. The front landing legs may need to be uninstalled and lowered 1-2 sets of bolt holes so the bracket will be able to be installed correctly. Use a ¾” impact socket and driver with a ¾” wrench to loosen and remove the bolts from the jack. There should be three sets of bolt holes available once the bracket has been reinstalled correctly. The jack bolts may need to remain loosened until the bracket is in place and then all bolts can be tightened down. All bolts need to be torqued to 65ft. lbs.
14. Lift bracket using floor jack into position between the front leveling jacks until the bottom set of holes on the bracket are lined up with the bottom set of holes on the jack leg.
15. Use the provided shims that are 1/8” & 1/4” thick to ensure that the bracket has no more than a ½” gap to be closed up when tightening bolts. (Some brackets may not require any shims & will have less than ½” gap once in place)
16. Once the bracket holes are lined up use a ¾” impact socket and driver to start the stainless steel self-tapping bolts in the bottom two holes. Insert the matte silver bolts into the top holes and use a ¾” impact socket and driver on the bolt and a ¾” wrench to hold the nut on the back while tightening. Only snug up bolts until all bolts have been installed in the bracket.

17. Once you have all the bolts on both sides of the bracket snug all bolts down until tightened.
18. Using a torque wrench, torque all the bolts to 65 ft. lbs.
19. Lower the front landing legs back down and remove the tripod and wheel chock

Reason for this recall
On certain 2019 -2021 Cyclones, 2020-2021 Big Horn Traveler, & 2020-2021 Elkridge fifth wheels, the front landing legs are not properly supported and could buckle and collapse the front of the unit when it is parked stationary. This could lead to an increased risk of injury, and/or damage to property
What we will do
Heartland
will have an authorized dealer or repair center install an additional bracket on the front jacks Cyclones (Part number -0363841) or Big Horn Traveler/Elkridge (Part number –0363482). This repair should take no more than 30 minutes – 1 hour to complete. This defect will be corrected at no expense to you, the owner.

At your earliest convenience, Please contact your local dealer to set up an appointment to have this inspected and if needed corrected immediately, this service will be performed free of charge. You will need the following information for the phone call:
