Bedroom Window Does Not Have Proper Crank Handle

Without the narrow crank handle, the emergency exit may be difficult to open, impeding the ability to open the window and resulting in an increased risk of injury in the event of an emergency.

Summary

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Dutchmen Yukon 399ML, 400RL and 410RD recreational trailers. The bedroom egress window has a black round knob installed rather than a narrow crank handle.

 

Remedy

Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will remove the existing black round knob and replace it with a narrow crank handle, free of charge. The recall began October 7, 2020. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone’s number for this recall is 20-386.

Yukon Egress Window Crank

 

Keystone is conducting a voluntary RECALL notification campaign in accordance with the National Highway Transportation and Safety Act. It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population have an egress window installed in the bedroom and did not have the correct crank handle installed. If an emergency situation arises the emergency exit may be difficult to open as the current black round knob may impede the ability to open the window, which could result in an increased risk of personal injury.

Models Included:	2020 – 2021 Yukon 299ML, 400RL, 410RD
Serial Number Ranges:	2020 LZ980000 – LZ980002 2021 MZ980000 – MZ980130
Parts Required:	1 – KRV # 114843 – Crank Handle – Red – Full Exit Window (This part may be ordered in bulk without a VIN) 1 – KRV # 532131 – Screw – #8-32 x 1″ RMHS – For Window Crank Handle – FR01108-1 (No Canadian Sales) (This part may be ordered in bulk without a VIN)
Tools Required:	Phillips #2 Screwdriver

 

Note – Check serial number on Key Express to verify the campaign is open. Some vehicles were repaired before they left Keystone.

When performing warranty or recall service, please make certain that appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used.

The remedy is to replace the black round knob on the bedroom egress window with the narrow crank handle.

 

REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS 

Step 1

Locate the trailer on a level, flat, hard surface. Chock the wheels.

 

Step 2

Locate the bedroom egress window. Figure 1

 

Step 3

Remove the black round knob and install the narrow crank handle using KRV # 114843 – Crank Handle – Red – Full Exit Window and KRV # 532131 – Screw – #8-32 x 1″ RMHS – For Window Crank Handle – FR01108-1 (Canadian Dealers purchase locally). See Figure 2.

 

Step 4

Proceed to warranty reimbursement.

We apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause you; however your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us.

 

Reason for this recall

It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population have an egress window installed in the bedroom and did not have the correct crank handle installed. If an emergency situation arises the emergency exit may be difficult to open as the current black round knob may impede the ability to open the window, which could result in an increased risk of personal injury.

 

What we will do

Keystone representatives have been in contact with the staff at your selling dealership regarding this situation. The remedy is to remove the existing black round knob and replace it with a narrow crank handle. We have enclosed the correct narrow crank handle. The service and parts required for this corrective action will be provided at no charge to you.

 

What we need you to do

Remove the black round knob until you or an authorized dealer can replace it. If you require assistance installing the handle, please make an appointment with your dealer and bring the unit to the dealership and they will install the handle at no cost to you. The labor time to perform this correction is less than 15 min. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional time will be needed to schedule and process your RV for this repair.

 

If you have questions

Your dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to ensure your RV is corrected as promptly as possible. Please contact Keystone Customer service if your dealer is unable to assist or if you take your RV to your dealer on the agreed service date, and the dealer does not remedy the condition within a reasonable amount of time, or without charge to you.
