Summary
Lion Electric Company (Lion Electric) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lion C and Lion 360 school buses equipped with wheelchair lifts. The shoulder belt and ground anchors intended to hold a wheelchair in place may detach in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 222, “School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection.”
Remedy
Lion Electric has notified owners, and dealers will add a rivet to reinforce the floor and change the screws on the seat belt, free of charge. The recall began November 23, 2020. Owners may contact Lion Electric customer service at 1-855-546-6706.

This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.
Description of the vehicle(s) affected by the defect

Description of the defect
The non-compliance that is the subject of this notice is in respect to shoulder belt anchors and ground anchors that allow the wheelchair to be held in place. In the event of an impact, the anchors and ground anchorages could detach, thereby compromising human safety. As a result of our certification tests on the shoulder belt anchorages and ground anchors, the anchorages do not resist the minimum force required, not meeting the FMVSS 222 standard section 5.4. The belt anchorage and ground attachment points could become detached, compromising passenger safety, increasing the chance of personal injury.
Corrective Measures
Lion Electric will contact you to determine the date of the intervention to make the necessary modifications to remedy the non-compliance. The company will assume the cost of this corrective action. We will reinforce the floor with the addition of rivet and change the screws on the seat belt. This operation takes about two hours.

We need to drop down the top of the support to 50 in of the floor.
1. Unscrew the seatbelt support from the wall.
2. We need to have the support directly in contact with the bow.
3. Use the template flat bar to cut the bow cap at the right place. (See the dimensions of the flat bar below)
4. Drop the template on the floor and center it with the bow cap. Make a rectangular cut as it is on the template.
5. Put the seatbelt support at the place we need to fix it and mark the 5 spots we need to drill.
6. Drill on the bow with a “F” sized drill bit.
7. Fix the support with FIVE ¼” rivets (PN: 14810724)

Il faut descendre le top du support à 50 po du plancher.
1. Déviser le support du mur.
2. Faire une découpe dans le bow cap intérieur pour que le support soit directement fixé sur le bow.
3. Utilisez le gabarit pour faire une découpe (3.5po X 0.75po) dans le centre du bow cap. (Voir les dimensions du flat bar plus bas)
4. Déposer la flat bar sur le plancher et enlignez la avec le centre du bow cap. Faites la découpe rectangulaire à l’aide d’un disque de découpe comme le gabarit l’indique.
5. Déposer le support de ceinture à l’emplacement de fixation et marquer les 5 endroits où il faut percer.
6. Percer avec un forêt F les bows.
7. Fixer le support avec 5 rivets ¼ (PN : 14810724)

1. Remove exhaust from under the unit
2. Remove coolant hose (2)
3. Remove diesel lines (2)
4. Remove electrical connector (5)
5. Remove the system form his brackets

Drill 16 holes with drill bit F at the locations identified by red dots and arrows and at 1 11/32’’ from the bottom of the C channel. The blue dots represent the rivets already on the C channel.

Install 16 1/4 rivets (14810730) on each C channel (7) behind the wheelhouses.
Option 2 (Bolt and Nut):
A
Drill 16 holes with drill bit 25/64’’ at the locations identified by red dots and arrows and at 1 11/32’’ from the bottom of the C channel. The blue dots represent the rivets already on the C channel.
B
Install 16 bolts 3/8-16 (14802478) and nuts 3/8-16 (14800516) on each C channel (10) identified below. Apply a torque of 31 ft-lbs in dry condition.
