Summary
Corp. Micro Bird, Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2014-2021 Micro Bird G5 vehicles with electrical wiring, routed behind the driver’s seat, that may have been damaged during rivet installation.
Remedy
Micro Bird will notify owners and dealers will provide field modification instructions, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 24, 2021. Owners may contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012. Micro Bird’s number for this recall is 21-086-WUS.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
What is being recalled?
Micro Bird has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain G5 models, built on Ford
E-Series and GM chassis, year models 2014-2021 school buses manufactured between April 1, 2014 and November 30, 2020.
Why is it being recalled?
Micro Bird has determined that while drilling holes to install the trim behind the driver’s seat with rivets, cables, wires or connectors located in the wall behind the driver’s seat may have been damaged. Also, metal shavings resulting from the drilling may have fallen into an opened connector.
What is the safety issue?
If the integrity of the electric cable or wire is compromised, some safety accessories or lamps may stop working, or a short-circuit may occur and a fire may ignite. Also, if metal shavings have fallen into a live opened connector, the metal shavings may heat and a fire may ignite.
What are we asking you to do?
- Immediately locate the affected unit(s) in your fleet and inspect the vehicles according to the attached repair instructions.
Note: The repair instructions are specific to the model and model year of the chassis on which your vehicle is built. If you have received more than one set of repair instructions, make sure to use the correct repair instructions for each of your vehicles.
- If you observe a damaged wire or connector, please take good picture(s) of the findings while including a label or tag in the picture that identifies the vehicle Micro Bird body number or VIN.
- For reimbursement, complete the reply sheet for each repaired vehicle and send them back with the pictures and detailed invoice to Micro Bird by fax at 819 475 9633 or by email at [email protected]. This will enable us to update our files.
What Micro Bird Corporation will do?
Micro Bird Corporation will provide repair instruction to mitigate this recall at no charge. It will be the responsibility of the bus owners to execute the mitigation.
