Summary
Putco Inc (Putco) is recalling certain Nitro-Lux LED Headlamp Bulb part numbers 700004 thru 709012. The headlamp bulbs may cause excessive glare or brightness to oncoming drivers. As such, these bulbs fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”
Remedy
Putco will notify owners and distributors, and will replace the LED bulbs with Halogen bulbs, free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2021. Owners may contact Putco customer service at 1-800-247-3974.

IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL 21E006
Dear Nitro-Lux LED Bulb Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Highway Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Putco has decided that certain Nitro-Lux LED replacement headlight bulbs sold by it (Model Numbers 700004, 700007, 700011, 700H13, 709004, 709005, 709006, 709007, and 709012) fail to conform with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety (FMVSS) Standard No. 108 “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”
The bulbs exceed limitations on luminous flux set forth in the standard and may cause increased brightness or excessive glare for oncoming drivers, which increases the risk of a crash. There are no known incidents related to this regulatory non-conformance. Nitro-Lux fog light bulbs are not subject to this recall.
As a remedy, Putco is offering to replace the Nitro-Lux LED bulbs with halogen bulbs which comply with the requirements of FMVSS 108, free of charge. To obtain replacement bulbs, please go to: www.putco.com/recall and fill out the recall form located there. You will be required to provide a receipt or other proof of purchase at the time you submit the form. The form and proof of purchase can be submitted electronically, or you may print the form out and submit the information via mail to the address provided there. When the replacement bulbs are mailed to you, you will also be sent a prepaid label so that you may return the Nitro-Lux LED bulbs to Putco in the same box in which the replacement bulbs are sent to you.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause you. If Putco fails to provide the replacement bulbs, without charge to you, within a reasonable time after you submit a recall form, you may submit a written complaint to: Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1200 New Jersey Ave., SE, Washington, DC 20590, or call 1-888-327-4236.
