Summary
Spartan Fire, LLC (Spartan Fire) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Gladiator and MetroStar vehicles. The steering gear mounting bolts may become loose and back out, resulting in difficulty steering.
Remedy
Spartan Fire will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear mounting bolts and washers, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 22, 2021. Owners may contact Spartan Fire customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan Fire’s number for this recall is 21-01.

Acces..s to all of the bolt~ can be achlered by steering the susp ension to limiting stops.
– Remove the single 7/8 in bolt from each steering gear
– Clean lh.e thre.ads imide the steering gear blind hole.
– Discard lh.e 7/8 in fastener and flat \Vasher and install the Nord-Lock washer on lhe ne,v
fastener.
– Install and torque to 500 lb ft_
– Remove the (10) ‘/4 in fasteners from e.ach steering gear one at a time and clean lhe tbre.ads
and mating hole.s. See images on following pages.
o Acress to all bolts may require steering the vehicle from one limit to the other.
o Discard the fasteners lb.at direct! y thread into the steering gear and replace with new
fas teners (6 fasteners directly around the output shaft of tihe gear)
o Reuse !he 4 fas teners that thread into the mounting plates.
– Discard the flat washe,r and ins tall the appropriate Nord-Lock washer on the fastener (new
fastener if applicable).
– Install the ¼ in fastener (new fastener if applicable) with Nord-Lock washer and torque to
300 Ib ft.
– Repeat with die opposite steering ge.ar.
– This proredure applies to both the :master and slave gears.
– Labor Allowance: 1.5 hr. max recommended. Invoice Charge c-.apped at $195.00
