Heartland
Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland
) is recalling certain 2021 Heartland
Pioneer SS171 travel trailers. The Federal Certification label has the incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and axle rating. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, “Wheels and Rims – Other Than Passenger Cars” and 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”
Remedy
Heartland
will mail replacement labels to owners, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 9, 2021. Owners may contact Heartland
customer service at 1-877-262-8032.

21v491 V.I.N. I TAG REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: DO NOT APPLY NEW LABELS OVER THE EXISTING LABELS.
1. Locate sections 1, 2 and 4 on the driver’s side of your unit, typically just above the baggage door. Remove sections 1, 2 and 4 from your sidewall using a plastic scraping tool being careful not to scratch your unit. You may use isopropanol alcohol to assist with adhesion removal if needed.
2. Locate sections 1, 2 and 4 in the new set you received in the mail, remove from backer and carefully place on side wall in the order you removed them.
3. Locate section 3 in the door jamb closest to the hinge of the entrance door. Remove section 3 from your door jamb using a plastic scraping tool, being careful not to scratch your unit. You may use isopropanol alcohol to assist with adhesion removal.
4. Remove section 3 from the backer and place on the inside of the door jamb.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Heartland
RV (Heartland
) has decided that that certain Travel Trailers do not conform to 49 CFR Part 567 – Certification. And Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. On the vehicles subject to this recall, the Federal Certification Label and Tire Placard may contain incorrect or missing information. We apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause you, however your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us.
It has been decided that certain 2021 Pioneer SS171 travel trailers subject to this recall campaign may have a Federal Certification label on these vehicles that does not have the correct Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and axle rating listed on the label. If the GVWR is not listed, the operator would not know the trailer’s weight limit and may overload the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Heartland
will have an authorized dealer or repair center replace the Federal Certification Label. This will be corrected at no expense to you, the owner. This recall should take 10-12 minutes to complete. We have enclosed the replacement label so that it can be replaced quickly.
At your earliest convenience, Please contact your local dealer to set up an appointment to have this inspected and if needed corrected immediately, this service will be performed free of charge.

RV (Heartland
) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Heartland
travel trailers manufactured from 2018 to 2021. We apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause you, however your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us.
On certain 2018-2021 Idaho Mallard, Idaho North Trail, Idaho Shadow Cruiser, Idaho Sundance XLTTT, Idaho Wilderness, Prowler, Trail Runner, 2020-2021 Lithium, 2018-2019 Pioneer, & 2018-2019 Terry Classic travel trailers were built with a model 6020 propane regulator manufactured by Winntec that may have a faulty secondary rubber seal. This malfunction may result in propane pressures that exceed the propane appliances design limits and/or may be venting propane to the atmosphere which could result in a fire that results in property damage, personal injury, or death.
Instructions for the repair and a list of the affected coaches with their VIN #’s can be found on the warranty portal. Please verify your stock for any of the affected coaches and if you have questions concerning this recall or if you need any assistance please contact the Warranty/Service Department by email at ‘[email protected], or by phone at 877-262-8032.
Please have the VIN #’s of the affected travel trailers available when you call.
Federal regulations require that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days.
Note: It is a violation of federal law (CFR 49 Part 573.11&12) for a dealer to deliver a new vehicle that has been sold prior to completing this recall. Please be sure to address any vehicles in your inventory that are affected by this recall action.
