Summary

Forest RivereBay logo, Inc. (Forest RivereBay logo) is recalling certain 2022 Forest RivereBay logo Aurora travel trailers. These trailers were manufactured with the incorrect tires, size ST225/75R15 LRD, instead of tire size ST225/75R15 LRE, as identified on the Federal Placard.

 

Remedy

Dealers will replace the tire and wheel assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 24, 2021. Owners may contact Forest RivereBay logo customer service 1-574-825-6327. Forest RivereBay logo’s number for this recall is 205-1420.

Concern:

A ST225/75R15 LRD was installed on the vehicle. A ST225/75R15 LRE is required to meet and exceed the vehicle Gross Axle Weight Rating.

Disconnect the vehiclesโ€™ battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power.  Block all tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.

A TORQUE WRENCH IS REQUIRED FOR THIS INSTALLATION/REMEDY

 

STEP 1: INSPECT TRAILER โ€“ RECORD TIRE SIZES AND LOAD RANGE BELOW;

  • DRIVER FRONT:___________________________
  • DRIVER REAR:____________________________
  • PASSENGER FRONT:_______________________
  • PASSENGER REAR:________________________
  • SPARE TIRE:______________________________

 

STEP 2: ALL TIRES NEED TO BE ST225/75R15 LOAD RANGE E. IF TIRES ARE ST225/75R15 LOAD RANGE D,   PLEASE ORDER THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF TIRE/RIM COMBINATION;

STEP 3: REMEDY TRAILER โ€“ IF NEEDED

  • ENSURE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES (ALL TIRES) ARE BLOCKED/CHALKED
  • USING A FLOOR JACK, LIFT ONE SIDE OF THE TRAILER BY LIFTING ON THE I-BEAM
  • USING 2 JACK STANDS, PLACE THE JACK STANDS UNDER THE TRAILER I-BEAM DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF AND BEHIND THE FRONT AND REAR TIRES
  • REMOVE THE ST225/75R15 LOAD RANGE D TIRE/RIM COMBINATION(S) AS NEEDED
  • DO NOT REMOVE ANY ST225/75R15 LOAD RANGE E TIRES
  • PUT THE REPLACEMENT ST225/75R15 LOAD RANGE E TIRES ONTO THE AXLESโ€™ HUB
  • HAND TIGHTEN EACH LUG NUT
  • WHILE STILL OFF OF THE GROUND USE A TORQUE WRENCH TO TORQUE THE LUG NUTS TO 65 FT. LBS. IN A STAR PATTERN
  • LOWER THE VEHICLE TO THE GROUND AND TORQUE EACH LUG NUT TO 100 FT. LBS. USING THE STAR PATTERN
  • RECORD THE TIRE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER โ€œTINโ€ THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE VIN AND COMMUNICATE THIS TIN(S) RELATED TO THE VIN BACK TO AURORA CUSTOMER SERVICE
  • YOU ARE REQUIRED TO KEEP A RECORD OF THE TIN ON FILE ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE VIN
  • REPEAT THESE PROCESSES FOR EACH REPLACEMENT TIRE/RIM COMBINATION

 

STEP 4: CLAIM REPAIR/INSPECTION CODE.

IMPORTANT MILEAGE CHECKS FOR TORQUE:

When a rim is installed to the axlesโ€™ hub, it is required to be checked for torque at specific mileage intervals โ€“ this is listed in the axle manufactureโ€™s Ownerโ€™s Manual. A torque wrench is required for these checks and re-application of torque. Below is the listed intervals:

Check Torque after 10 miles; re-torque to 100 ft. lbs. if needed
Check Torque after 25 miles; re-torque to 100 ft. lbs. if needed
Check Torque after 50 miles; re-torque to 100 ft. lbs. if needed
Check Torque after 100 miles; re-torque to 100 ft. lbs. if needed
Check Torque after 200 miles; re-torque to 100 ft. lbs. if needed

This Torque check interval is the minimum requirement and not all-inclusive. Reference the axle manufacturers Ownerโ€™s Manual for further details on how often torque shall checked after these initial stages are complete.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest RivereBay logo โ€“ Office of Corporate Compliance (โ€œOCCโ€) has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022 Aurora AART31KDS travel trailer recreational vehicles. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.

 

WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?

A ST225/75R15 LRD tire was installed on the vehicle, the vehicle engineering specifications for this vehicle dictate a ST225/75R15 LRE to be installed and is specified on the Federal Placard.

 

EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.

The ST225/75R15 LRD tire is not rated for the vehicle. This could cause an overload of the tire condition, leading to premature tire failure and risk of crash.

 

WHAT IS FOREST RIVEReBay logo AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?

Forest RivereBay logo is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest RivereBay logo dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest RivereBay logo completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.

 

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. The tire and wheel assemblies will be replaced and will have the correct load rated specifications. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed.  Please state you have been notified by Forest RivereBay logo of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership.  It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy.

HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?

The estimated time of repair is .1 to 1.0 hours.  However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.

 

WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?

If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized.

Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for within the scope of this defect under recall.

Chronology :

On September 14, 2021, during a routine inspection, manufacturing identified the incorrect tires installed on the vehicles while verifying the tire/rim combination(s) with the Federal Placard on the vehicle. The same day the manufacturing plant exchanged all tires on vehicles in manufacturing and in the manufacturing plants’ holding yard. And alerted Forest Rivers Office of Corporate Compliance.

On September 15, 2021 all affected vehicles were identified

On September 17, 2021 Forest Rivers Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall

On September 20, 2021 -Amended recall to reflect Make is Forest RivereBay logo Not Coachmen
