Summary
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Entegra Anthem, Aspire, Cornerstone, Reatta, Reatta XL, and Jayco Embark Class A motorhomes. The instrument cluster may intermittently go blank while the vehicle is in motion.
Remedy
Dealers will update the control module software, and reroute and secure the duct work, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 22, 2021. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267.

| Incident: | Spartan RV Chassis is a division of Shyft Group and their number for this recall in the US is 21V-589. Under certain conditions, the instrument cluster may intermittently go blank for a period of time while the vehicle is in motion. Without the instrument cluster displaying important information such as vehicle speed, there may be an increased risk of a crash. The temperature in the area where the control module is mounted may exceed the programmed temperature setting of the control module due to closely routed defrost and defog duct work not being fully attached to the louvers. Gauge date or indicators may appear to be delayed or slow to update prior to the instrument cluster going blank. |

Additionally, the ductwork will be moved as far back as possible from the control module. This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Jayco and Spartan RV Chassis, a brand of The Shyft Group, Inc. have decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain Model Year 2019-2021 Anthem, Aspire, Cornerstone, Reatta and Reatta XL Class A motorhomes. The affected vehicles are built on 2018-2022 Model Year K1, K2, K3 and K4 model Spartan RV Chassis equipped with an instrument cluster supplied by Valid Manufacturing.
Reason for this recall
Under certain conditions, the instrument cluster may intermittently go blank for a brief period of time while the vehicle is in motion. Gauge data or indicators may appear to be delayed or slow to update prior to the instrument cluster going blank. The temperature in the area where the control module is mounted may exceed the programmed temperature setting of the control module due to closely routed defrost and defog duct work not being fully attached to the louvers. A blank instrument cluster may be missing critical information, increasing the risk of a crash.
Recall Remedy
The instrument cluster control module will be reprogrammed with a higher temperature setting and the defrost and defog ductwork will be secured to the louver(s). Additionally, the ductwork will be moved as far back as possible from the control module. The remedied component will have a different software version that is visible on the information screen.
What we need you to do
Please call Spartan RV Chassis at 800-543-4277 to locate a qualified service center near you. Steps will be taken to ensure the work is performed at the nearest service center. The Recall Remedy is free of charge, and is expected to take approximately one hour to complete.
If you had this repair completed prior to receipt of this recall notice, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. For more information, contact Spartan RV Chassis at 800-543-4277. A vehicle lessor receiving this notice must notify the lessee by first class mail within ten (10) days from receipt of this owner notification letter.

Chronology :
On, or near, February 22, 2021, Shyft began investigating complaints involving the instrument cluster intermittently going blank. Between that time and late April, engineers from Shyft, along with engineers from Valid, conducted various levels of testing. Between May and June, the condition to cause the failure mode was identified and a review of Valid’s DFMEA was conducted. All part numbers were being identified and a population of VIN’s being identified. During a July 15th meeting, the population was reviewed with Valid as well as past precedence information. On July 22, 2021, Shyft determined that a safety related defect may exist in the identified vehicles. August 31, 2021 Shyft Group/ Spartan emailed notification to Jayco of their Recall 21V-589. September 13, 2021 Jayco (WIRC) Warranty Incident Review Committee discussed the recall and elevated the incident to Jayco (CPAC) Corrective Preventative Action Committee. September 15, 2021 CPAC discussed the recall and elevated to Jayco (SSC) Safety Steering Committee. September 23, 2021 Jayco (SSC) voted and agreed to that a Jayco Motorized pass through recall is required.

IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL This Notice Applies to Your Recreational Vehicle ยซNAMEยป ยซADDRESSยป ยซCITYยป, ยซSTยป ยซZIPยป Dear Valued Dealer: This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Jayco and Spartan RV Chassis, a brand of The Shyft Group, Inc. have decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain Model Year 2019-2021 Anthem, Aspire, Cornerstone, Reatta and Reatta XL Class A motorhomes. The affected vehicles are built on 2018-2022 Model Year K1, K2, K3 and K4 model Spartan RV Chassis equipped with an instrument cluster supplied by Valid Manufacturing. Under certain conditions, the instrument cluster may intermittently go blank for a brief period of time while the vehicle is in motion. Gauge data or indicators may appear to be delayed or slow to update prior to the instrument cluster going blank. The temperature in the area where the control module is mounted may exceed the programmed temperature setting of the control module due to closely routed defrost and defog duct work not being fully attached to the louvers. A blank instrument cluster may be missing critical information, increasing the risk of a crash. The instrument cluster control module will be reprogrammed with a higher temperature setting and the defrost and defog ductwork will be secured to the louver(s). Additionally, the ductwork will be moved as far back as possible from the control module. The remedied component will have a different software version that is visible on the information screen. Our records show the following unit is affected by this recall and is part of the current inventory at you dealership. ยซVINยป Please call Spartan RV Chassis at 800-543-4277 to locate a qualified service center near you. Steps will be taken to ensure the work is performed at the nearest service center. Federal law requires that all affected units in your inventory be repaired prior to delivery to a retail owner. If you sold an affected unit recently, please contact the owner immediately to advise the owner of the recall. In addition, please register the unit through Jayco Partners. A vehicle lessor receiving this notice must notify the lessee by first class mail within ten (10) days from receipt of this owner notification letter.
