FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : Improper torque on the lugs could cause the wires to become loose in the Part 573 Safety Recall Report 21V-849 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of the Safety Risk : transfer switch. If the wires become loose it could cause the wires to arch and possibly start a thermal event. This could lead to and increased risk of fire and injury. Description of the Cause : Production may not have verified proper torque of the lugs in the transfer switch box during the manufacturing process. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : Loose wires could cause intermittent or loss of power in the unit. You may also smell hot or melting wires coming from the pass through storage area. How Remedy Component Differs The remedy component would have the wire securement lugs torqued to Part 573 Safety Recall Report 21V-849 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 from Recalled Component : the proper values as stated on the Transfer switch box. Values vary by manufacture. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : We have provided proper training and tools to the individuals installing the transfer switch boxes. We have installed a group lead verification signoff of proper torque specs being met on the production line.
