Date Number Release Page 11.2021 SC0432 01 1(3) ZF Power Steering Pump Replacement GR and LR RECALL INFORMATION (November, 2021) Mack has determined that certain model year 2021 trucks may have been built with a defective power steering pump. The possible defect in the power steering pump could cause it to leak power steering fluid. If this happens, there could be a loss of power steering assist. A loss of power steering assist may result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash. Mack Trucks has not received any complaints or reports of vehicle crashes because of this issue. To ensure that these vehicles meet Mack’s stringent safety standards, the replacement of the power steering pump will be required. VEHICLES AFFECTED Certain Mack North America vehicles manufactured between May, 18, 2020 and September, 25, 2020. VEHICLE QUANTITY There are 92 vehicles affected by this recall (79 U.S., 13 Canada). Mack Trucks, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in a certain 2021 Mack model Granite and LR vehicles manufactured from May 18, 2020 through September 25, 2020.
