Missing Conspicuity Tape – 2020-2022 EBY Generation Trailers

Dear Sir or Madam: This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. M. H. Eby, Inc. has decided that certain Eby Generation commodity trailers manufactured by M. H. Eby, Inc. fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.” Accordingly, a recall to address this issue is being initiated effective November 16, 2021. The defect involves missing white conspicuity tape that was not installed on the top rear corners of the Generation commodity trailers. Missing white conspicuity tape reduces the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. M. H. Eby manufactured these trailers at the Story City, Iowa plant between July 2019 and November 2021. This is a non-compliance per FMVSS 108 and 393.11 (B). Enclosed, please find detailed instructions for the installation of the conspicuity tape to meet FMCSA standards. M. H. Eby will supply to the owner of the trailer the proper conspicuity tape as required by the FMVSS 108. There is no cost to the owner for this recall. In the event you cannot install the conspicuity tape in a timely manner, please contact the M. H. Eby Warranty Department at 717-354-1458 to make arrangements for installation at a trailer service center convenient to you. The repair should take approximately 15 minutes.
