Daimler Trucks
North America, LLC. (DTNA) is recalling one 2020 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX transit bus. The chassis was assembled without the electronic stability control hardware and software. As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, “Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles.”
Remedy
A dealer will install an electronic stability control system, free of charge. The owner notification letter is expected to be mailed January 16, 2022. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA’s number for this recall is FL909.

Chronology :
In August 2021, Thomas Built Buses began an internal review FMVSS 136 ESC requirements. From September 2021 through October 2021, staff conducted a thorough assessment of all buses that were thought to be at risk of having noncompliances. This assessment identified 1 bus that was manufactured without an ESC system as required by FMVSS 136 ESC. Promptly upon determining the noncompliance, in November 2021 DTNA decided to conduct a non-compliance recall.
