Jayco
, Inc. (Jayco
) is recalling certain 2022 Alante Class A and Entegra Coach Vision Class A motorhomes. The main chassis harness may be positioned too close to the exhaust manifold, causing the wiring to melt.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and secure the harness as necessary, or replace the harness if damage is found, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 6, 2022. Owners may contact Jayco
customer service at 1-800-283-8267.

INSTRUCTIONS
- Using the forward jacks, lift the front of the unit until front tire is slightly off the ground. (Fig. 1)
- Locate chassis wire harness and brake cable which is not secured between the frame rail and engine. (Fig. 2)
- Using loop clamp and TEK Screw, secure both the wire harness and brake cable to the vertical tube. (Fig. 3)
- If the wire harness has the plastic securement clip, re-install in the top of the frame rail. (Fig. 3)
- Raise the forward jacks.

Chronology :
November 15, 2021 the first affected vehicle broke down in transit from Jayco
to the dealer; the check engine light illuminated.
November 23, 2021 the second affected vehicle broke down in transit from Jayco
to the dealer; the check engine light illuminated and smoke came from the dash.
December 1, 2021 it was determined that the main wiring harness on the first vehicle was melted by the exhaust manifold.
December 7, 2021 it was determined that the main wiring harness on the second vehicle was melted by the exhaust manifold.
December 13, 2021 Jayco
Engineering informed the Warranty Incident Review Committee of the defect and provided a remedy.
December 15, 2021 the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee reviewed the incidents and determined to elevate the concern to the Safety Steering Committee.
December 16-17, 2021 The Safety Steering Committee voted in favor of proceeding with a recall.

December 1, 2021 it was determined that the main wiring harness on the first vehicle was melted by the exhaust manifold. December 7, 2021 it was determined that the main wiring harness on the second vehicle was melted by the exhaust manifold. December 13, 2021 Jayco
Engineering informed the Warranty Incident Review Committee of the defect and provided a remedy. December 15, 2021 the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee reviewed the incidents and determined to elevate the concern to the Safety Steering Committee. December 16-17, 2021 The Safety Steering Committee voted in favor of proceeding with a recall. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 21V-997 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Inspect the harness for damage and if there is not damage use the provided pin to secure the harness away from the exhaust manifold. If the harness is damaged it will be replaced and secured away from the exhaust manifold. Retail owners who obtained a pre-recall remedy will be reimbursed according to our general reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : When the remedy is complete the main chassis harness will be secured away from the exhaust manifold by a pin. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : December 14, 2021 units on site were inspected and remedied if necessary.
