Summary
Arrow Manufacturing, Inc. (Arrow) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Ram
4500 and 5500 cab chassis equipped with LiquidSpring Compressible Liquid Adaptive Suspension Systems (C.L.A.S.S.). The rear brake caliper flexible line may contact a suspension component, causing a brake fluid
leak.
Remedy
Dealers installed a kit to modify the rear brake caliper flexible line mounting, and inspected and replaced worn brake lines as necessary, free of charge. All affected vehicles have been repaired and therefore no owner notification letters will be sent. Owners may contact Arrow Manufacturing customer service at 1-712-261-3157.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Highway Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
LiquidSpring LLC has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in a component of certain LS suspension systems installed on 2019-20 model year RAM
4500/5500 cab chassis, and only suspension systems installed on the above chassis are included in the safety recall.
These suspension systems are typically installed on ambulances and other specialty vehicles. The affected system component is the rear brake caliper flexible line. The routing of the rear brake caliper flexible lines during the installation of the suspension kit may be causing brake caliper flexible line wear due to contact with a suspension component(s). Continued vehicle use with the rear brake caliper flexible line contacting suspension a component(s) may result in partial or complete loss of rear service brakes which could cause damage to the chassis and/or other vehicles, and possibly result in a crash.
You are receiving this notice because records indicate that you may have purchased a vehicle equipped with an affected LS suspension system. LiquidSpring recommends that vehicle operator(s) be aware of any abnormal brake pedal feedback or reduced braking ability and that the rear brake caliper flexible lines should be inspected for any leakage. If any wear is found on the rear brake caliper flexible lines (not the protective spiral wrap), do not drive the vehicle.
The affected suspension systems have a serial number range 2007563 – 2013191. The suspension system serial number may be found on the serial number plate located on the driver side front frame hanger of the suspension. See Figures 2 & 3 for the location and view of the serial number plate.
suspension system within the above serial number range, please contact LiquidSpring to arrange service to have the rear brake caliper flexible lines inspected and modified to address the potential wear issue, free of charge. This repair will take about 1 hour to complete.

Chronology :
1st Reported Instance – December 12, 2019 – In the case of the 1st reported instance, a customer installing a RAM
4500/5000 rear suspension kit contacted LiquidSpring Customer Service to report contact between the driver side (LH) rear brake caliper flexible line and the lower axle clamp suspension component. Review of customer submitted pictures confirmed contact. Customer reworked the LH rear brake caliper flexible line routing to eliminate contact issue. There had been no other previously reported contact between the rear brake caliper flexible line and suspension component(s) from installers, dealers, or end users of the affected product.
Chronology :
February 10, 2020 – LiquidSpring contacted RAM
dealer to obtain rear brake caliper flexible line P/N’s for MY 2018, 2019, and 2020 RAM
4500/5500 cab chassis. RAM
dealer provided part number information for the rear brake caliper flexible line indicated that the P/N for MY 2019 and 2020 was the same but different from MY2018. Because physical information such as length of the line was not available for comparative purposes, LiquidSpring ordered both rear brake caliper flexible lines for MY 2018 and 2019/20. Only MY 2018 part was received, MY 2019/20 was backordered with delivery date indeterminate.
February 14, 2020 – LiquidSpring began effort to develop banjo manifold block to install between the rear brake caliper and the rear brake caliper flexible line to re-orient the brake line banjo mount and provide an effective longer line length for clearance with the lower axle clamp suspension component.
March 16, 2020 – LiquidSpring began effort to modify the lower axle clamp suspension component to provide clearance for the rear brake caliper flexible line without utilizing banjo manifold block.
March 24, 2020
Trial installation of the developed banjo manifold block between the rear brake caliper and the rear brake caliper flexible line along with re-orientation of the brake line banjo mount.
