Hino has determined that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2021 Hino conventional trucks. You received this notice because our records, which are based primarily on state registration and title data, indicate that you are the current owner. What is the Condition? Hino identified a single subject vehicle with a replacement air brake hose assembly in which the end fittings of that air brake hose lacked a manufacturer designation. What will Hino do? For the subject vehicles, the dealer will replace the subject air brake hose. Please make an appointment with your authorized Hino Dealer to have the remedial work performed. This repair will be performed at NO COST to you. What should you do? You do not need an owner letter to have this recall completed; however, to assist the dealer in confirming vehicle eligibility, we request that you present this notice at the time of your service appointment. Address : Kasei-Machi 31-7, Nobusawa Kanagawa Prefecture Ashigarakami-Gun Foreign States 256-0026 Country : Japan Chronology : September 2021 ～December 2021 During the development of the new model vehicle, it was discovered that a particular replacement air brake hose assembly did not have the manufacturer designation on the air brake hose end fittings. Investigation revealed that a replacement air brake hose assembly was sold via a Hino dealer and installed in a single vehicle. No other affected vehicles were identified. January 17, 2022 Based on the investigation above, Hino confirmed that the subject air brake hose assembly meets all requirements of FMVSS 106 with the exception of the manufacturer’s designation specifically required for assemblies under FMVSS 106 S7.2.3. Therefore, Hino has determined to perform a recall on the air brake hose assemblies which were distributed through the service parts network.
