It must be secured to the wall, away from the chimney and refrigerator cooling unit. Step 4: Disconnect the wiring to the control board in the back of the refrigerator. Use wood cribbing cut to height to support the front of the refrigerator. Be careful to use something soft to protect the flooring of the unit. This is the time to repair any damaged wiring. Remove all slack from the wire by securing with additional screw mount cable ties and #8 X ¾” screws every 12 inches. When securing the wiring, screw into a wall cleat or wall tubing. If you attach to an open wall cavity, use a wall molly to hold the zip tie fast. Step 9: Once all 110-Volt wiring is secured to the wall, reinstall the refrigerator into position and secure with screws as discussed in Step 5. Step 10: Double check wiring clearance away from the refrigerator cooling unit. Step 11: Reinstall wiring to the refrigerator control board in Step 4. Step 12: Reinstall LP line. Perform drop pressure test to ensure there are no LP leaks. Step 13: Reinstall the lower refrigerator vent. Recall complete.

If this were to occur, the potential exists for the wire to contact the cooling unit of the refrigerator. Heat from the cooling unit could melt through the wire insulation and expose the copper wire. This allowed the insulation to melt leaving potential for the wire to contact the burner tube. On November 4, 2021, Grand Design began performing due diligence to determine the frequency and scope of the concern. NHTSA followed up with Grand Design on November 10, 2021 with a VOQ siting the same concern. December 3, 2021, Grand Design Notified NHTSA we were finalizing our research and would be communicating our intent after January 1, 2022. January 3, 2022, Grand Design completed our due diligence regarding the scope of affected units and remedy determination. On January 25th, we convened our Executive Product Safety Review Committee where it was decided to launch a product safety recall action. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : On affected vehicles, the dealer will access the 110-Volt wiring by removing the exterior lower vent cover for the refrigerator. The dealer will inspect the wiring to ensure there is no damage present. If the wiring is damaged it will be replaced. Any damaged wiring along with undamaged wiring will have additional securement to the exterior wall utilizing screw mount cable tie(s) that will remove any excess wire slack and assure securement away from the burner tube. Owners that have paid to have this service performed will be reimbursed by Grand Design. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : If the 110-Volt wire has sustained damage, it will be replaced with an identical wire and will have additional securement to assure that the wire cannot come in contact with the cooling unit. Wires that have not sustained damage will receive additional securement as well. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Effective June 1, 2021, production initiated the process of additional securement of the 110-Volt wiring to the exterior wall of the refrigerator cavity, securing the wire away from the burner tube. Where possible the 110V wire was either rerouted away from the cooling unit or a false panel installed to prevent the potential for contact.
